The Zero Harm Projects & Governance Specialist role will support the delivery of strategic and operational safety initiatives across the Transport & Infrastructure business. You’ll help drive a culture of ownership, continuous improvement, and simplification in safety practices. This role is ideal for a proactive safety professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about influencing positive change. This role offers national flexibility and can be performed from any major city in Australia.

Key Responsibilities

Support the development and implementation of Zero Harm strategies, governance frameworks, and risk management programs.Lead and contribute to safety culture initiatives, training content, and performance reporting.Analyse safety data and trends to inform decision-making and drive continuous improvement.Partner with operational leaders and Zero Harm Business Partners to embed best practices.Facilitate change management, training, and communication across the business.Support compliance with legislation, standards, and Downer’s internal Zero Harm systems.Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders including clients, regulators, and industry groups.

What You’ll Bring

Advanced Diploma in WHS, business, or a related discipline.5+ years’ experience in Health & Safety, with at least 2 years in a change management role.Experience in high-risk environments and knowledge of relevant legislation.Strong analytical, reporting, and communication skills.Familiarity with safety systems.ICAM investigation training and Lead Auditor qualifications (desirable).Strong leadership and coaching capabilities.A drive for performance, innovation, and continuous improvement.Ability to build strong relationships and influence at all levels.
