We are looking for someone to join our team as a Young Stock Co-ordinator, based in our site near Ruthin
This role has a large product development focus and as such the key to the success of this role is the relationship between the Youngstock Co-ordinator and both the Product Development Team (PDV) (both for beef and dairy) and also the rearing unit team.
You will require good people & communication skills, attention to detail and an enthusiasm for the industry.
You will provide administrative and practical support to the Vet Team and facilitate key relationships within the vet team, the wider Genus team and to other relevant stakeholders. You will be responsible for co-ordinating calf & recipient purchases and all that is involved in getting those animals into a Genus site.
In this role you will work closely with the rearing unit team and provide administrative and practical support to that team. You will be expected to keep up to date with the legislation relevant to your role.

You Will Birth, Pedigree & Other RegistrationsResponsible for entering and maintaining all calves detailsEnsure all calves born at Genus sites are birth registered on BCMS & AgriwebbWork closely with the Health & Testing Co-ordinator on where animals are and what is needed before they enter a studTissue sampling calvesCoordinate tissue sampling with livestock teamsEnsure all Beef calves animals have a sample taken for genotypingSecond sample taken for T15 genetic defects and wagyus need a sample sent for registrationOrganise a sample at Whenby Feed Efficiency to be taken for double verificationRegular sample audits to ensure all required samples have been taken and if they have been missed organise for them to be taken and sent offOrganise DNA samples that come from Denovo cooperator herds and send them off for the relevant testingWhen Denovo keeps are identified organise further tissue samples to be takenCreate submission forms & send samples off including all relevant information for that animal.Package samples correctly in keeping with EU and US compliances for ABP shippingSend results and info to the PDV teamUpdate relevant spreadsheets and systems with results.Rearing Unit & Embryo programme admin supportAgriwebb - all movements on & off, all births, deaths, staff training to ensure all information needed is received & day to day on site use of agriwebb is maintained & accurateBCMS movements • Regular passport monitoring & auditsWeekly vet list – vaccinations & health testing & practical support on vet daysOrdering ear tags for calves including BVD tissue tags, eid tags, etcUpdating any systems of spreadsheets as required by the vet team or rearing unit managerAssist in recording embryo information relevant to the calves and for feedback to the beef & dairy teams and other stakeholdersCentre Associated Isolation (CAI)/Pre-Entry Quarantine (PEQ) & Bull LicencesCo-ordinate with the Health & Movement Co-ordinator the movement of selected animals into CAI/PEQWork with the Health & Movement Co-ordinator to organise B1ds (pre-entry quarantine testing) for both CAI at Ruthin & PEQ at WhenbyVisitsCo-ordinate & manage visitsHave a good general knowledge of the business and in particular production and supply chainPresent to internal & external customersGYWSupport the GN team with routine jobs such as feeding/bedding/treating youngstock and recipient heifersPerform daily tractor and machinery work (bedding, feeding, mucking out) and ensure the servicing and upkeep of machinery on site.Maintain a high level of hygiene and cleanliness including mucking out/washing livestock areas and equipmentAssist with calving recipient heifers and caring for neonatal calves ensuring colostrum feeding protocols are followed giving the calves the best start.Carry out all site-specific vaccination and health testing protocols on all livestock on siteContinually strive to improve animal health and welfare by discussing and implementing new ideas/protocols Requirements GCSEs or equivalentFull UK drivers licenceKnowledge of the IndustryBasic Computer skillsEnthusiasm for the industryWillingness to learn about all areas of the business Business OverviewABS Global is a Genus company and is the world-leading provider of bovine genetics, reproductive services, technologies and udder care products.
