Writer/Project Coordinator
**Summary** Chenega Enterprise Systems & Solutions is seeking a results-driven, high-performing professional with 10+ years’ experience in program coordination, writing, research, and communications to serve as a Wrtier/Project Coordinator within a fast-paced, high-pressure environment for the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Counter-Trafficking Initiative (CTI) within the Office of the Secretary’s (OST) Office of International Transportation and Trade. In this role, the Writer/Project Coordinator will work closely with the broader CTI team, as well as offices across the Department in addition to external transportation stakeholders to ensure smooth project delivery while producing print and digital content that is impactful and helps to inform internal and external constituencies. The Writer/Project Coordinator will report onsite at the U. S. Department of Transportation’s Washington, DC Headquarters. We actively strive to channel our highly engaged employee’s knowledge, critical thinking, and determination to innovate scalable solutions for clients. **Responsibilities** + Advisory Committee: Assist the CTI team in supporting the DOT Advisory Committee on Human Trafficking and implementation of its recommendations. + Internal Coordination: Assist the CTI team in coordinating across DOT’s OST offices and Operating Administrations, including facilitating clearance of internal and external documents. + Outreach: Assist the CTI team in engaging with transportation sector stakeholders. + Research: Assist the CTI team in monitoring and reviewing trends in counter-trafficking within the transportation sector considering current DOT policies and programs. Contribute to the development of data collection instruments, interview guides, and focus groups. + Content Development: Translate in meticulous detail various program concepts and information into clear, concise, readable, and presentable material suitable for any audience. Create, analyze, write, edit, copyedit, and proofread materials. + Awareness Materials: Assist the CTI team in developing of counter-trafficking awareness materials, including trainings and public awareness campaign tools and resources, such as posters, videos, newsletters, and websites. + Events: Assist the CTI team in planning, coordinating, implementing, and facilitating events for diverse domestic and international transportation stakeholders. + Administrative: Schedule meetings and provide notes to the CTI team. + Other duties as assigned. **Qualifications** **Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:** + Bachelor’s Degree + 10+ years’ experience in program coordination, writing, research, and communications. + Excellent critical thinking, time management, organization, goal management, problem-solving, collaboration, and adaptability required. + Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize a heavy workload in a dynamic and complex environment to meet deadlines and daily requirements while coordinating the work/input of multiple stakeholders. Self-motivated and highly detail-oriented with work products. + Demonstrated oral and written ability to communicate creatively, clearly, and effectively. + Ability to make presentations to small and/or large groups in an effective manner. + Understanding of Associated Press and Chicago Manual of Style writing styles. + Broad knowledge of principles, skills and processes of content development to collaborate with multiple authors on a work product and meet the information needs of different audiences. + Ability to build effective relationships and provide quality service to both internal and external contacts regarding complex matters. + Ability to research a variety of topics through web and library searches, interviews, and other methods and to translate the knowledge to strategically written work products. + Flexibility in adjusting to frequent changes in policies, procedures, and priorities. + Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. **Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Experience:** + Demonstrated expertise in transportation policy, DOT regulations, rules, procedures, and practices relevant to transportation responsibilities. + Demonstrated expertise in the field of human trafficking and its intersection with the transportation sector. + Demonstrated successful marketing copy expertise. + Demonstrated graphic design and intermediate level Adobe suite expertise, including InDesign and Illustrator to inform the development of strategic print and digital awareness materials for exhibitions, campaigns, social media content, graphics, interactive charts, publications, e-newsletters, and multimedia presentations. + Demonstrated web development expertise. **REFERENCES:** + Provide references upon request. **SAMPLES:** + Diverse writing samples required, and submitted with the resume and application. + Diverse design samples (if applicable). **EXERCISE:** Candidates will be required to complete a writing exercise during the interview based upon a counter-trafficking scenario and will be conducted onsite without access to AI tools. **Physical Demands:** (The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
