IBM seeks a passionate and experienced writer to join the IBM Quantum team. IBM Quantum works to bring useful quantum computing to the world and maintains a diverse team of marketing, product, and content professionals working to introduce quantum to the largest audience as it begins to enter the compute ecosystem. The IBM Quantum team is highly awarded creatively and emphasizes quality of storytelling and content experience.
The perfect candidate is a natural storyteller who is excited about deep technology, high-performance computing, and the potential of quantum computing to revolutionize the world. They should be adept at writing simple, powerful headlines and compelling short-form stories to attract specific audience segments. They should excel at creating crisp, elegant explanations of highly complex technological concepts that work across multiple channels—from web and product copy to event activations and interactive experiences.
**Your role and responsibilities**
As a Quantum Computing Web and Product Writer, you will work closely with IBM Quantum’s chief experience officer, senior content strategist, and editor-in-chief to create clear, compelling copy for product launches, events, and ongoing marketing campaigns across multiple channels and products. You will be a voice of the IBM quantum computing team, turning technical messages and narratives into easily digestible public-facing copy based on the IBM Quantum voice and tone guide. On a day-to-day basis, you will seamlessly collaborate with the social media, writing, and communications teams to create beautiful copy that inspires and delights our users and audiences. You will work closely with IBM experts and IBM leadership to ensure that your copy retains technical accuracy. You will help guide the narrative of the IBM Quantum website, incorporating SEO best practices to ensure that IBM retains brand leadership for quantum computing.
**Required technical and professional expertise**
* Familiarity with cloud compute, AI, quantum—and how they interact
* Strong, fast writer with portfolio demonstrating ability to create short, concise, and compelling copy for marketing and ad campaigns on a tight deadline
* Natural storyteller with proven ability to turn deeply technical concepts into original, compelling stories for a variety of audiences
* Familiarity with SEO and incorporating SEO best practices into content strategy
* Understanding of content strategy and how we use content to promote a brand, attract clients, and retain users
**Preferred technical and professional experience**
* 5+ years of experience in marketing, copywriting, journalism, or another related field
* Familiarity with the HPC landscape
* Content design experience and/or familiarity with design thinking
