POSITION TITLE
Workforce Welding Instructor (FT)
APPOINTMENT
Appointed by the Chancellor of the College upon the recommendation of the Vice Chancellor of Strategic Initiatives and the Executive Director of Workforce
LINE AND STAFF RELATIONSHIPS
The Workforce Welding Instructor reports to the Workforce Program Manager.
GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY
Instructors may be assigned classes at any of the four River Parishes Community College campuses (Gonzales, Reserve, Plaquemine, and St. Charles), as determined by student need and institutional demand. Teaching needs may include face-to-face/online and/or evening classes. Full-time faculty are expected to actively serve on campus committees, participate in campus activities, and participate in student advising and recruitment.
Minimum Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
· Five (5) years welding and cutting experience.
· NCCER Certified preferred.
· Proficient in multiple welding processes.
· Certified Welder, Certified Welding Educator, Certified Welding Inspector, or OSHA Authorized Instructor preferred.
· Satisfactory background check – an offer of employment is contingent on a satisfactory pre-employment background check.
· Previous teaching experience preferred.
Job Duties and Other Information
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Develop, deliver, revise, and teach Welding courses for both general enrollment and on-demand customized training for industry partners.
· Meet College deadlines for attendance taking, grade submission, learning outcomes assessment reporting, and textbook adoptions.
· Market the Workforce Program.
· Serve on campus committees.
· Advise students.
· Assist with student recruitment efforts.
· Maintain a safe and orderly lab environment.
· Maintain lab equipment and inventory.
· Collaborate with business & industry partners to improve the Welding program.
· Consult with other College faculty and staff on issues relevant to student success.
· Monitor and document student performance.
· Demonstrate a strong commitment to the River Parishes Community College Mission.
