SSO is committed to a diverse workforce, which is a reflection of our clients and the people they serve. **Workforce Development Coordinator in Augusta, ME** **Overview** This position serves as the Workforce Development Coordinator for Maine CDC, setting the strategic direction and providing oversight for workforce activities at Maine CDC. The position is responsible for assuring a coordinated approach to planning and implementing improvements in recruitment, retention and workforce development across the agency, including the revision and implementation of the Maine CDC’s workforce development plan. This position is a leadership position requiring strong collaborative leadership skills and proven initiative. This position is 100% federally funded and is a required position in the “Strengthening U.S. Public Health Infrastructure, Workforce, and Data Systems” grant from the US CDC. **Knowledge, Skills and Certifications** + Knowledge of principles and techniques of planning and directing long-range comprehensive programs. + Knowledge of human resource principles and practices, including those related to recruitment and retention + Knowledge of public health principles and practices. + Knowledge of quality improvement, performance management, and evaluations of workforce development initiatives. + Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with public health, healthcare, and other professionals from federal, state, and community organizations, including through the development of formal and informal agreements. + Ability to coordinate with diverse groups of people and committees and apply communication and group dynamic strategies in interactions with groups and individuals. + Ability to motivate and support colleagues in promoting workforce development, including pipeline programs such as internships and mentorships. + Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, in person and through electronic means, with linguistic and cultural proficiency. + Ability to identify and resolve program problems, inconsistencies, errors, and omissions + Ability to implement plans and programs consistent with policies, and to ensure the consistency of policy integration into organizational procedures, structures, and programs. + Ability to oversee workforce development best practices and procedures and integrate workforce development into program and business operations. + Ability to implement organizational and system-wide strategies for continuous quality improvement, including but not limited to evaluation plans and measures. + Ability to respond to diverse needs that are the result of cultural differences and ensure public health programs’ cultural competence + Ability to ensure employee input when developing public health policies and programs and to evaluate the effectiveness of employee engagement strategies. + Ability to incorporate the Foundational Public Health Services and Core Competences for Public Health into practice. + Ability to integrate a review of the scientific evidence related to public health workforce issues, concerns, or interventions into the practice of public health + Ability to defend programmatic and organizational budgets and ensure that programs are managed within current and forecasted budget constraints. + Ability to integrate systems-thinking into public health practice. + Ability to mentor, peer advise, coach, or use other personal development strategies for the public health workforce. **Duties and Deliverable** + Coordinate workforce operations, projects, staff, and functions in order to establish workforce priorities, coordinate workforce development activities with other functions within agency, and ensure workforce objectives and standards are established and attained. + Lead Maine CDC efforts at improving recruitment and retention, collaborating with human resources staff and supporting supervisors. + Consult, coordinate and represent DHHS, Maine CDC, and the Division Operations to assure implementation of strategic workforce priorities, including but not limited to recruitment and retention. + Review assessments of workforce training needs, partnering with internal and external partners to identify training resources and bring them to the Maine CDC workforce, and evaluating the plan and its outcomes. + The workforce director will recruit and support a Maine CDC-wide workforce development and employee engagement team that represents staff throughout the agency. Identify practical strategies to foster employee engagement. + Develop an internship program, including strategies to recruit and support preceptors, as well as interns. + Develop and sustain partnerships with other Maine government senior staff; Maine CDC management; USM staff, Public Health District staff, state, regional and federal agencies; and other individuals in order to achieve common goals + Work closely with the Evaluation Specialist to design and implement required targeted evaluation plans for Public Health Infrastructure Grant (PHIG). Ensure that regular progress reports related to the workforce section of the Public Health Infrastructure Grant (PHIG). + As part of PHIG, attend regional (New England) and national grantee meetings, which are each held once a year. **Schedule** + Normal working hours are generally set as Monday-Friday, 8-5, although this schedule can be flexed as approved by the Chief Operating Officer. + The position may be remote, up to three days a week, regular on-site, in-person meetings are expected. + The position is expected to work within a 40-hour workweek, there is no provision for overtime. + This position will be paid for hours worked and will not be compensated for when the State of Maine is administratively closed, unless there is prior approval by the Chief Operating Officer. Compensation for roles at Staffing Solutions Organization LLC (SSO) varies depending on a wide array of factors including, but not limited to, the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. As required by applicable law, SSO provides a reasonable range of compensation for this role. In addition, SSO provides a range of benefits for this role.
