Workers Compensation Analyst

Job Overview:

Responsible for the effective administration of Company workers’ compensation policies and procedures and ensures compliance with all State and Federal laws as it relates to Workers’ Compensation, FMLA, ADA, and other leave of absence protections following work-related injuries.

Key Responsibilities

Oversees the day-to-day administration of the Company Workers’ Compensation Program for multiple states within designated business unitPartners with business leaders and key stakeholders to identify preventative opportunity areasAssesses all new claims and immediately engage in those that are serious, questionable, or lost timeMonitors and maintains appropriate contact with all managers and employees on workers’ compensation ensuring timely return to workPartners with claims adjusters, nurse case managers, EHS, Risk Management, managers, and employees and works with team to develop claims strategyRecommends procedure, policy, manual and training enhancements based on knowledge, experience, and feedback from stakeholdersMaintains confidentiality of sensitive informationParticipates in special projects as needed in support of the Company Workers’ Compensation ProgramFollows up with all employees, managers, and timekeepers, TPA, and medical offices regarding workers’ compensation appointments, light duty status and any policy or procedure clarificationsArranges and follows up on physician, physical therapy, and diagnostic testing appointments for employeesResponsible for the effective development, administration, and roll-out of the Company Transitional Duty Program within business unitCoordinates with doctors, claim administrator, field management, etc. in managing the application of the transitional modified duty programMaintains appointment logs and track restricted duty and lost time metrics for cases within designated business unitActs as a liaison between the injured team member, claim administrator and the Company to ensure all eligible benefits are provided to the injured team memberKnowledge of OSHA regulation
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 3-5 years of experience handling workers’ compensation claims or a Master’s degree with a minimum of 1-3 years of experience handling workers’ compensation claimsProficient in Microsoft Office / Word / Excel / PowerPoint and ability to learn specialized programs specific to the professionDemonstrated ability to be a self-starter, highly organized, detail-oriented, and accurateMust be able to regularly exercise discretion, handle conflict and be firm when requiredStrong attention to detail; demonstrating attentiveness to all aspects of a task or process, and accuracyProven problem-solving skills; able to identify important aspects of a problem, gather appropriate information, determine potential causes, and specify alternative solutionsExcellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with diverse population of employees, managers, upper management, physicians, attorneys, and outside vendors in a respectful manner, via telephone, written communications or electronic media and handle conflicts and disagreements constructivelyProficient multi-tasking capabilities; able to prioritize multiple competing priorities while remaining compliant with policies and delivering against deadlines
