The Wheel & Brake Mechanical Engineer Level 3 is responsible for the development of new Wheel & Brake equipment for our global customers based from our state of the art facility in Ansty, Coventry.
Your responsibilities
+ Performance Validation: Perform and approve performance calculations and simulations to ensure equipment meets design requirements.
+ Project Leadership: Lead and manage the overall Wheel & Brake project, overseeing all phases of new product development, including requirements management, design, testing, and entry into service.
+ Technical Documentation: Create, review, and approve technical requirement documents in compliance with government, company, and customer standards.
+ Program Targets and Metrics: Ensure all program targets are met, including technical performance, costs, and schedules, while tracking key metrics throughout the development process.
+ Cross-Functional Coordination: Collaborate with engineering functions, supply chain, and operations to ensure designs for manufacture align with Design to Cost targets and meet reliability requirements.
+ Testing and Compliance: Work with Test Engineers to develop qualification test documents and ensure compliance with agreed testing methods, while supporting internal and external design reviews
+ Continuous Improvement and Support: Actively support Continuous Improvement initiatives within the Wheel & Brake Center of Excellence and assist with Root Cause & Corrective Action for design and manufacturing issues.
You will have:
+ A degree in a mechanical engineering discipline
+ Expertise built up from experience of working in a similar experience over a number of years.
+ Experience with Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Geometrical Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) and working knowledge of applicable manufacturing processes
+ Project management skills including cost and schedule tracking
+ Experience with Design Failure Mode and Affects (DFMEA) and Risk Analysis
+ Able to make presentations to customers and lead daily discussions with group of engineers, designers and technicians
+ Aerospace experience preferred
+ Aircraft Systems knowledge or experience preferred
+ Continuous Improvement training preferred
