**Introduction**

The workflow capability is also part of IBM® CloudPak for Business Automation, a platform offering that comprises various business automation capabilities that you can use to digitize all aspects of business operations including gaining real-time insight into your business.
The development team in Böblingen is part of IBM’s worldwide business automation organization.
Engineers of our team work in an agile development environment, and are responsible for the full software development life cycle - ranging from designing and implementing new product features through testing and supporting customers world-wide in continuous delivery process.
**Your role and responsibilities**
We are looking for a motivated and curious student to support the migration of our infrastructure automation to a cloud dedicated environment. This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience with modern DevOps tools and practices in a collaborative, real-world setting.
In this role, you will:
- Assist in analyzing and adapting existing Ansible automation to work within a cloud-based environment.
- Help replace legacy vSphere-based interfaces with modern APIs for provisioning and managing virtual machines.
- Contribute to the development or enhancement of a CI/CD pipeline using Jenkins to automate performance QA tests.
- Support the migration of infrastructure components (e.g., ELK stack, pull-through container registry, LDAP) to the new cloud environment.
- Work closely with experienced engineers and cross-functional teams to ensure a smooth transition.
- Document your work and contribute to internal knowledge sharing.
**Required technical and professional expertise**
* Basic understanding of Ansible.
* Basic understanding of virtualization concepts and platforms like vSphere.
* Exposure to API usage and scripting (e.g., Python, Bash).
* Introductory experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI.
* Comfortable working in Linux environments and using the command line.
* Strong willingness to learn and contribute to real-world infrastructure projects.
* Good communication and documentation skills.
**Preferred technical and professional experience**
* Exposure to container technologies like Docker, Kubernetes or OpenShift.
* Familiarity with Git or similar version control systems and workflows.
* Interest in DevOps practices, automation, and infrastructure as code.
* Experience with monitoring tools or basic system troubleshooting.
* Participation in open-source or university DevOps projects.
