Aspirus Corporate Office in Wausau, WI is seeking a WELLNESS SPECIALIST to join our BUSINESS HEALTH team!

The Aspirus Business Health Wellness Specialist develops, promotes, implements, evaluates and markets to employer’s programs designed to promote health and wellness, environmental change, behavioral change strategies and prevent illness/disease and ultimately engage employees and their families. As a professional member of the team also provides individualized coaching and education to employees enrolled in a wellness program, disease management program and/or other health program by identifying areas of health risk, assessing readiness to change, and utilizing motivational interviewing techniques to promote healthy lifestyle changes. 

HOURS: Full-Time or 0.8 FTE, 64 Hours Biweekly, Day Only: Monday-Friday

Experience/Qualifications

Knowledge and experience in adult education theory and behavior change strategies normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s Degree preferred) in Health Promotion, Health Education or closely related field and two (2) years of health education work experience required.Experience in providing health coaching / health education services to individuals and groups required.Certification as a wellness coach or current enrollment in a wellness certification program preferred.Demonstrated experience in implementing a health and wellness program in an employer or community setting preferred.Documented knowledge of components of programs on weight management, exercise, nutrition, tobacco cessation and stress management.Knowledge and experience in the science of human behavioral change such as the stages of change model as described by Prochaska and DiClemente.In addition to the above requirements, the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate proficiency in the following:Ability to be self-motivated and self-directed.Ability to write technical reports and objectively evaluate program effectiveness.
