**Job Overview:**
The Welding Superintendent (Fab) role requires an in-depth understanding of project execution strategies, workforce management theories, and Welding principles, with a basic knowledge of related disciplines. The Welding Superintendent (Fab) must be able to apply industry insights to enhance on-site productivity, provide leadership, and influence processes and policies for effective workforce governance, as well as identify and resolve technical, operational, and organizational problems that impact project outcomes. The Welding Superintendent (Fab)’s decisions are pivotal in ensuring that the team meets its objectives with efficiency and adherence to safety standards. These decisions should be guided by established policies, resource allocations, budget considerations, and the overarching project plan.
**Key Tasks and Responsibilities:**
+ Direct and coordinate the activities of the welding and fabrication department to ensure project objectives are met with the highest level of quality and efficiency
+ Interpret project plans, blueprints, and specifications to develop and implement comprehensive welding strategies
+ Manage the workflow and allocation of resources, including personnel, materials, and equipment, to maximize productivity and maintain project schedules
+ Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols, ensuring all fabrication work is carried out in compliance with industry standards and company safety policies
+ Conduct regular inspections and assessments of welding procedures, equipment, and finished products to ensure they meet quality control standards
+ Provide leadership, training, and support to welding personnel, fostering a culture of skill development and continuous improvement
+ Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other department heads to ensure seamless integration of the fabrication process with other project activities
+ Maintain detailed records of welding operations, including compliance with safety regulations, material traceability, and employee performance
+ Own and lead the implementation, enforcement, and verification of compliance with all McDermott policies and procedures
+ Ensure employees understand their responsibility and authority to effectively implement the requirements of all McDermott policies and procedures
+ Ensure the timely completion of all mandatory training by themselves and their teams
**Essential Qualifications and Education:**
+ Proven experience as a Welding Superintendent, Welding Supervisor, or a similar leadership role in a fabrication or manufacturing environment within the EPC industry
+ Strong technical knowledge of welding processes, metallurgy, and blueprint reading, with the ability to troubleshoot complex welding issues
+ Relevant welding certifications (e.g., AWS, CWI) and a thorough understanding of industry safety standards and quality assurance protocols
+ Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team of skilled welders and fabricators, with a track record of managing successful projects
+ Excellent organizational, communication, and decision-making skills, with the capacity to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines
+ Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying abreast of technological advancements in welding and fabrication techniques
