Description:• In this position, the candidate will work directly under a lead Material and Processes engineer, completing assigned tasks, while working to come up to speed on Lockheed Martin processes and best practices. Duties will include supporting existing and development programs, reviewing drawings and weld requirements, reviewing test plans and data, supporting development and qualification testing, and supporting failure investigations. The candidate will be involved in weld improvement and optimization efforts, working closely with design, structural and thermal analysis teams. Candidate will support weld quality and producibility tasks both on-site at LM as well as off-site at suppliers.
Basic Qualifications:
• B.S. degree or higher in welding engineering, welding engineering technology, or related field
• Must possess a thorough understanding of engineering concepts, principles, codes, and theory
• Fundamental understanding of welding processes including, but not limited to, resistance, electron beam, laser beam, plasma arc, resistance, friction stir, GTAW, and GMAW
• Excellent attention to detail and willingness to take ownership of tasks, and demonstrate pride in all work.
• Must work well as part of a team, possess excellent communication and organization skills and be proficient in MS Office tools.
• Be willing to support regular travel, both domestic and international
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance
Desired Skills:
• Advanced degree in welding engineering
• Fundamental knowledge of welding processes across a variety of material systems.
• Experience working with aluminum, titanium, stainless steel, nickel alloys and high strength steels.
• Experience with tooling design for welded assemblies to reduce weldment distortion and improve producibility
• Experience writing test plans, test procedures, and inspection criteria.
• Experience with the following processes: GTAW, GMAW, LBW, EBW
• Experience with root Cause Analysis and corrective actions including, but not limited to, optical and SEM fractography/ metallography, hardness, chemical analysis, and mechanical testing
• Experience working with structured welding codes.
• Experience with AWS D17.1, D1.2, D1.1
Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
