This job is at a Depot Level repair facility performing maintenance on aircraft electronic components. Must be able to travel to ships overseas (which may be in Combat Zones). Military aviation experience is a plus\n
DUTIES\n\nMust have Non Destructive Testing experience, NAVSEA Level II preferred\nPerforms at intermediate level and\/or assists in jobs assigned by the Voyage Repair Department trades such as ALAD Mechanic, Non Destructive Testing, and\/or Welder\nInteracts with Quality Assurance (QA) Special Programs Manager for Non Destructive Testing Program compliance\nFollows mechanical and structural blueprints, process instructions, quality assurance instructions, and specifications issued by NAVSEA and NAVAIR\nEngages in the manufacture, assembly, disassembly, overhaul, repair, installation and test of ALRE systems and components in support of product development programs, fleet emergencies, supply system shortages and in-service engineering actions\nInstalls, service changes and tests hydraulic cylinders and heat exchangers\nRepairs various valves and automatic controls and safety devices such as meters, safety valves, and automatic alarms \nPerforms and assists with onsite machining of parts using portable lathes or boring mills, and milling machines\nConnects machinery and steam fuel lines, hydraulic systems, cooling and lubricating lines\nWorks from shop sketches, work documents, diagrams, specifications, service change bulletins, NAVAIR publications, written and oral instructions, engineering instructions and blueprints\nUses drafting instruments and other measuring devices to lay out templates for a variety of parts\nEnsures the finished product generally meets plus or minus .001 inch within limits.\nUtilizes broad trade knowledge of mechanical principles, standard shop methods and general shop mathematics as it pertains to complex machinery of various types\nUtilizes ability to improvise jigs, fixtures, forms, and dies in order to manufacture, rework or alter metal parts and subassemblies\nUtilizes ability to set up, adjust and operate various types of machine tools, powered tools, and equipment, the capability of laying out machine operations from blueprints and sketches and ability to apply handbooks formulas in computing precise dimensions\nUtilizes capability to use precision measuring instruments such as torque wrenches, calipers, depth micrometers, gage blocks, height blocks, squares and straight edges\nOther duties as assigned\n\n
EDUCATION\/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS\n\nHigh School Diploma or equivalent.\nMust have at least four (4) years of relevant experience.\n4 years of welder experience preferred\nMilitary experience preferred\nPossess knowledge and proficiency in various NAVSEA Level II NDT methods and procedures\nMust satisfactorily complete training and certification program to remain an NDI Inspector\nMust have maintenance certifications in the following: Magnetic Particle (MT), Liquid Penetrate (LP), and Visual Testing (VT)\nMust have a thorough technical knowledge of NDT techniques utilized in the repair, alteration, and maintenance on naval ships\nMust be familiar with various test equipment with proper adjustment positions and calibrations, as well as know the limitations of acceptable techniques and test methods to detect defects\nMust be familiar with the type and location of defects consistent with the fabrication process involved and ability to classify defects as acceptable, unacceptable, or irrelevant\nMust understand and apply standard geometrical formulas in Non-Destructive testing\nMust have knowledge of the Machinist trade to fabricate, modify and assemble various component parts, and the knowledge of the Pipefitter to cope with high pressure steam and hydraulic systems\nExperience in sheaves banks, cross heads, MEC accumulators, CRO valves and drive system, anchor dampers, sheave dampers, fairlead system, wire support system, barricade system and retractable sheave assemblies\nTravel will be required\nMust be a US Citizen\nMust have or be able to obtain a secret clearance. \nWe maintain a drug-free workplace and perform pre-employment and post offer substance abuse \nMust be able to read, write, speak, and comprehend English.\n\n

Environmental Factors:\n\nWork in an inside\/outside environment to include working around machinery, objects, vehicles, ladders, and scaffolds.\nExcessive noise and vibration that can be intermittent or constant.\nEnvironmental conditions can included but not limited to dust, silica, asbestos, fumes, smoke, gas, solvents such as degreasing agents, grease, oils, and electrical energy\nWorking on slippery or uneven surfaces\nWorking closely with others or working alone\nPossible protracted or irregular hours of work as needed or required.\n\n
