AGI Newton, as part of AGI’s Commercial Platform, specializes in the engineering, design, fabrication, and installation of high-quality mild and stainless-steel equipment and systems for grain handling and food processors. **The Opportunity** We are seeking a Welder/Fitter/Fabricator to join our Production Team at our manufacturing facility in Newton. Responsible for fabricating, fitting, welding and assembly of high-quality metal components for our customer’s needs such as Grain Elevators, Augers, Platforms Etc. In this role you will also be responsible for reading and interpreting engineering blueprints, and performing quality checks on finished products before they leave your area. **The Team** Our welding and custom fabrication team is a dynamic group of 20+ trade professionals. They work collaboratively within the group to achieve quality, safety, and on-time goals. This position will report directly to the Production Manager. **Responsibilities** + Fabricate and weld components as specified by layouts, engineered drawings, work order actions, or verbal instructions ensuring that tolerances are met + Clean work area and equipment, grind or chip excess metal from welded products + Inspect and correct welds as necessary to meet quality specifications + Read, understand, and follow job order specifications, engineered drawings, and/or work orders + Complete mechanical installation of bolted assembles + Ensure equipment and tools are in good working condition, reporting maintenance services when required + Complete tasks while adhering to Health & Safety policies and procedures + Other duties as assigned by the department supervisor + Some overtime may be required **What We Offer** + Competitive compensation + Shift timings: Monday- Thursday: 7 am to 5 pm, Friday: 7 am to 1 pm + On the job training and advancement opportunities + Support with obtaining CWB certifications + Safety Gear Reimbursement + Great company and team culture + Health, Dental Benefits and Life Insurance + RRSP/DPSP matching and Employee Stock Purchase Plan with match + Short/Long term disability **What We Are Looking For** + High school or equivalent + Valid CWB tickets preferred + 2-3 years minimum experience in custom fabrication + Ability to work independently and in a team setting + Strong interpersonal and communication skills + Positive attitude with a willingness to learn + High level of English reading, writing, and comprehension skills + Ability to work in accordance with Health & Safety regulations, company rules, policies and procedures + Previous experience with 5S and Lean Manufacturing would be considered an asset AGI is an equal opportunity employer and values diversity.
