About this Role
Welder Helpers assist skilled welders in all phases of their work, including the preparation, joining and repair of metal and other weldable material by applying appropriate welding techniques. Candidates should possess a basic understanding of welding techniques and a keen interest in learning the trade. Ultimately, the Welder Helper’s role is to ensure that the welding process runs smoothly and efficiently, always adhering to safety regulations.
What You'll Do
Duties, Tasks and Responsibilities
+ Assist Welder in setting up equipment and preparing materials for welding
+ Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area
+ Monitor inventory and assist in material procurement
+ Operate power and hand tools as directed
+ Follow safety protocols and workplace policies
+ Help in inspecting equipment and machinery
+ Perform basic maintenance tasks as required
+ Transport tools and materials to and from job sites
+ Other tasks as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities
+ Ability to assist welders in assembling, maintaining, and installing structures or parts through efficient manual dexterity and physical strength.
+ Knowledge of different welding techniques and tools to aid the main welder in performing tasks effectively and safely.
+ Attention to detail, ensuring that every weld is carried out precisely to meet quality standards and specifications.
+ Interpersonal skills to effectively coordinate with the main welder and other team members.
+ Problem-solving skills to quickly identify and resolve issues that arise during the welding process.
+ Understanding safety protocols and the ability to adhere to them to ensure a safe working environment.
+ Ability to withstand physically demanding conditions such as standing for long periods, lifting heavy welding equipment, and working in different weather conditions.
+ Basic mathematical skills to accurately measure and align workpieces.
+ Good communication skills to understand instructions and effectively relay information to the team.
What You'll Bring
Minimum Qualifications
+ High school diploma or equivalent
+ Previous experience as a Welder Helper or similar role is preferred
+ Basic knowledge of welding tools and equipment
+ Good physical condition and stamina
+ Excellent attention to detail
+ Strong communication and teamwork skills
+ Ability to follow instructions and safety regulations
Physical Requirements – (Working Conditions)
+ Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions and tolerate exposure to typical noises and smells associated with the jobsite.
+ Must have physical strength, balance, hand-eye coordination, and stamina necessary to complete jobs in various areas.
+ Prolonged periods standing and walking.
+ Must be able to lift and carry up to 80 pounds and push and/or pull 50-pound loads at a time.
+ Manual dexterity as needed to operate a variety of hand tools.
