Weld Technician, Engineering - The Toro Company

Starting Pay: $23 - $27 per hour, based on experience, with opportunities for pay increases at 6 month intervals. 1st Shift: 6:00am - 2:30pm, Monday - Friday, with overtime as needed. What Will You Do?   In order to grow and build a successful career with The Toro Company, you will be responsible for:  DEVELOP PROCESS TO ENSURE IT RUNS AS DESIGNED + Develop new robot programs for part transitions or new product introductions to weld robots. + Assist in installation and programming, and commissioning of new and existing robotic weld equipment (e.g., FANUC, KUKA preferred). + Support the development and implementation of welding processes for new and existing weld fixtures + Enter material requests as needed to set up and program new weldments on robots. + Work with Tooling and Quality departments to ensure new programs and fixtures produce weldments that meet print specifications. + Ensure safety, repeatability and accuracy of new equipment and new programs. + Train robotic weld techs on new programs and new robots. + Identify, suggest and implement continuous improvement projects aimed at improving efficiency, cell layout design, flow, and robot utilization. + Work with engineering, tooling, and the weld team on modifications to welding fixtures to make them robot compatible. + Assist facilitators and maintenance personnel with troubleshooting equipment and tooling issues if needed. + Provide backup assistance as needed to Robotic Weld Technicians. + Participate in planning activities and/or meetings as needed. + Repair equipment using hand tools, welding tools, and power tools as needed. + Make periodic inspections of robotic cell equipment and make adjustments and other needed services (i.e. Feeder rollers, whips, welding consumables, and similar). + Maintain quality and productivity standards to meet internal customer requirements + Maintain inventory of consumables used for robotic equipment. Keep your supervisor informed of parts and consumables needed to be purchased. + Document (including video recording welding) and maintain robotic weld processes, programs, preventative maintenance and backups to support electronic work instruction development. PROCESS IMPROVEMENT AND OPTIMIZATION + Assist in troubleshooting robotic weld, equipment, tooling, and quality issues in collaboration with facilitators and maintenance teams. + Poka Yoke weld tooling as needed. TRAINING + Train Robotic Weld Technicians on new programs, robots, and station operations during start-up and production transitions + Participate in recommended robotic programming & maintenance training. What Do You Need?  To be considered for this role, an individual should meet the following minimal requirements:  + Associate degree or technical certification in robotics or welding technology, preferred. + Strong problem solving and trouble shooting skills. + Independent, self-motivated, open to technical mentoring. + Must have interpersonal skills in working with a variety of cross-functional teams. + Advanced skill level reading and interpreting blueprints. + Advanced skill level with MS Office products (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) + Experienced with MIG/GMAW welding. + Experience with robotic and cobot weld systems, preferred. + Experience with air and electric hand tools. + Knowledge of repair of tooling and fixtures. + Must understand Toro manufacturing, engineering, quality, and materials functions. + Must be flexible with work schedules based on operational needs. + Must be willing to work overtime on a short notice. + Occasional work may be required during non-shift hours. + Minimal travel as required for training, best practice sharing, etc. + Pass required written test and weld programming test.
