The Welding Specialist is a large capital outside sales position selling welding processes and welding applications. Works closely with an advanced fabrication specialist to gain experience using the Airgas advanced fabrication sales methodology including, The Efficiency Analysis, UHCW, and Engineered Cost Reductions.

Sale of Airgas Welding Processes and Welding Applications.

Develop in-depth knowledge of Airgas Welding Processes and Applications to match customer needs with appropriate products and services.

Work on small to mid-size Airgas accounts under the guidance of the Advanced Fabrication Specialist (AFS) to gain or retain business and experience.

Travel to customer sites with an AFS to understand the customer’s current welding processes and Airgas solutions.

Develop an understanding of how to increase sales and margin profit through The Efficiency Analysis, Engineered Cost Reduction, and UHCW seminar and 3.5-day class.

Provide information on Airgas/ARCAL Shielding Gases, weld products, and services to customers.

Learn about flexible and fixed automation applications and CNC cutting systems and be able to explain them to customers.

Develop an understanding of the types of customer inquiries and how to satisfactorily resolve customer complaints.

Operate in a safe manner and promote safety with associates and customers.

Must be willing and able to travel overnight 50-60%.

Leverage manufacturing knowledge and technical expertise to win competitive business.

Conduct Executive Presentations to business owners and decision makers to win Purchase Sales Agreements. 

Strategize with Account Managers, New Business Development, District Managers and Area Vice President to win new business. 

Conduct Welding Efficiency Analysis and produce reports showing cost savings opportunities for competitive accounts. 

Guide customers through cost savings projects and show realized cost reductions.

Utilize problem solving skills and technical expertise to satisfy customers. 

Identify leads and opportunities for capturing business and growth. 

Work with the Advanced Manufacturing team to ensure methods, approach and applications are the best for the customer’s application.

________________________Are you a MATCH?

Previous Sales experience required, Technical Sales preferred.

Minimum 4-5 years in the welding industry.

AWS Certified Welding Sales Representative (CWSR).

Associate Degree Welding (AAS), Military Weld training, or Bachelor's degree (Engineering) or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Established track record as a producer may supersede educational requirements.

TQM, Lean, or Six Sigma background.

Strong interest in welding processes and applications.

Basic knowledge and understanding of welding.

Self-motivated and results/action oriented.

Good presentation and communication skills.

Ability to apply mathematical formulas for cost analysis.

Team player with a positive attitude.

Self-motivated, success-oriented, mechanically, technically, and detail-oriented.

Ability to be flexible and adaptable.

Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Ability to read and interpret various documents.

Ability to write reports and correspondence.

Ability to speak effectively before groups.

Basic math skills.

Ability to solve practical problems.

Ability to interpret instructions.

Must pass AWS Certified Welding Sales Rep exam.

Membership in relevant organizations (AWS, ASM, ASNT, ASQ, ASME, SME) desirable.

Valid driver's license.
