Job Description
We are seeking a Weekend QC Chemist with strong theoretical knowledge of chemistry to join our team. This role is ideal for a local student who is flexible and committed to working on weekends. In this position, you will test in-process and finished samples, documenting results both manually and electronically. The job involves using ASTM methods and a range of instrumentation including titrations, viscosity, flash point, penetration, moisture analysis, IR, and GC. Occasionally, you will also conduct pH tests. A work order will guide your tasks for each shift.
ResponsibilitiesConduct testing of in-process and finished samples using various methods and instruments.Document results both manually and in electronic systems.Use ASTM methods and instruments such as titrations, viscosity, flash point, and GC.Perform pH tests as needed.Follow work orders to accomplish required tasks during each shift.Essential SkillsStrong theoretical knowledge of chemistry.Experience with titrations, viscosity, and pH testing.Proficiency in computer use.Familiarity with laboratory safety and procedures.Additional Skills & QualificationsStudying Chemistry, ideally as a sophomore in college.Experience with analytical chemistry and quality control.Knowledge of gas chromatography and FTIR.Work Environment
The laboratory is somewhat older and can be messy due to working with oil products. It is a full lab equipped with various instruments. The least favorable part of the job involves making grease for testing, which requires cleaning a lot of glassware. Core products are distributed in 55-gallon drums and bulk liquid containers. You will work independently on the weekend shift (8a-5p on Saturdays, with occasional Sunday coverage). Training lasts 4-6 weeks, and the role is intended to be held throughout the completion of your degree.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $15.00 - $17.00/hr.
