About the Opportunity:
Brown University’s School of Professional Studies (SPS) brings a Brown education to new audiences of learners: those focused on the development of skills and a breadth of knowledge necessary for professional success and leadership. We leverage Brown’s intellectual centers of excellence, rigorous teaching, and developmental approach to learning in a range of programs, including serving students outside of traditional degree programs. We partner with Brown departments, centers, institutes, and schools to develop degree and non-degree programs, and to support the recruitment, retention, and placement success of master’s students, including traditional, non-traditional, and professional students.
Responsibilities:
The Web Strategist and Producer is responsible for developing, editing and optimizing the digital user experience across five primary web domains: professional.brown.edu, masters.brown.edu, graduateprograms.brown.edu, emba.brown.edu, and fifth-year-masters.brown.edu representing Brown’s School of Professional Studies and its growing portfolio of master's programs, executive education and mindfulness programs.
Reporting to the Director of Marketing, this position will oversee web content strategy, user experience optimization and conversion rate improvement across all web touchpoints. The role focuses on creating compelling web experiences that guide prospective students through the enrollment journey while maintaining brand consistency and accessibility standards across all web properties.
This position collaborates closely with the marketing team, program teams and the Office of University Communications - Web Strategy and Digital Solutions team to ensure that web properties align with marketing objectives, user needs and institutional goals. The position requires a blend of strategic thinking, content expertise and technical proficiency in web production and analytics.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, digital media, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and professional experience
Minimum 5 years of web production and digital marketing experience, preferably in higher education or professional services
Portfolio demonstrating successful web projects and measurable results
Strong analytical and data interpretation skills
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
Strong ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
Experience with conversion rate optimization and A/B testing methodologies
Software/Technical Skills RequiredProficient in content management systems (Drupal preferred, WordPress, or similar platforms)
Advanced knowledge of Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, and other web analytics tools
Experience with SEO tools and best practices
Proficient in HTML, CSS, and basic JavaScript
Experience with A/B testing platforms (Optimizely, Google Optimize, or similar)
Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA)
Familiarity with project management tools and workflows
Preferred
Experience in higher education marketing or professional services
Knowledge of animation and motion graphics
Understanding of accessibility standards for visual and multimedia content
Skills in illustration or custom graphic creation
Knowledgeable in CS6 InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Acrobat
Knowledgeable in web-based editing software like CapCut (preferred knowledge of advanced video editing software like Adobe Premier or Final Cut)
Knowledgeable utilizing Adobe Express or other web-based design software
