Short Description Weapons Screening Officers will be responsible for ensuring a safe environment for patients, visitors, and team members through proper weapons detection screening processes as established by the security department. They will demonstrate exceptional customer service skills while protecting and preserving the interests and property of the organization.Ensure that all individuals entering weapons screening areas are properly processed which may include searching for personal belongings and/or hand-held metal detection screening of individuals to ensure no unauthorized weapons enter the facility.Greet all who enter the facilities in a pleasant manner.Controls flow of all pedestrian traffic into the properties of Cooper Health System by directing visitors where and when necessary. Conduct investigations and prepare resulting reports.Monitors visitor and employee behavior and when required utilize verbal/non-verbal persuasive measures to ensure compliance with policy and procedures.Responds to emergent duress situations.Driving a security vehicle.Performs all related duties or special projects as assigned/required. Experience Required0-2 years’ experience required.
3-5 years’ experience preferred.
Education RequirementsHigh School/GED required.
License/Certification RequirementsCurrent NJ-CPR Certification (Cardiopulmonary resuscitation) preferred.
Special Requirements 1-3 years of customer service experience may be acceptable.Exceptional customer service skills required.Knowledge and demonstrated proficient use of current weapons screening equipment required.Proper use of force training required.Communication – Ability to communicate with patients, visitors and coworkers required.Fluently speaks, reads, and writes in the English language required.Current Cooper de-escalation and violence prevention training required.
