**Job Summary**
The TYLin Whitby, ON office is seeking a 4-month intern for Water and Wastewater projects. The successful candidate will participate in a variety of projects that encompass the full spectrum of administration, planning, analyses, design, and implementation of municipal works. This position is for a five (5) days in-office role and will report to a Project Engineer in Water and Wastewater team. The candidate will be provided with mentorship and training as required for the role.
**Responsibilities & Qualifications**
Responsibilities
+ Creating conceptual, preliminary and detailed engineering drawings including Plan and Profiles through AutoCAD Civil3D, engineering reports, calculations, specifications and cost estimates for water and wastewater projects
+ Performing calculations and analysis using engineering formulas for design of sanitary and storm sewers, and watermains
+ Assisting the project team in delivering projects, and with the preparation of feasibility studies and functional plans
+ Assisting in applying for and obtaining the necessary permits and approvals to proceed with construction
+ Coordination with Suppliers and contractors for industry standards and shop drawings
+ Working on multiple projects simultaneously through different phases
+ Assisting with contract administration and construction inspection duties on project sites as required
+ Assisting with business development efforts including proposals and time task matrices
+ Additional responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
+ Working towards a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or related discipline
+ Experience with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D or MicroStation is an asset
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
+ Strong attention to detail and ability to produce quality results.
+ Willingness to learn new software and ability to apply it
+ Capable of working both independently and in a team environment
+ Excellent organization, time management, and negotiation skills
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills and strong technical writing skills
+ Ability to learn the approval process, including design guidelines and standards
+ Ability to learn the planning process and EA process
+ High levels of integrity, always doing the right thing in an ethical, fair, and sustainable way
+ Demonstrated experience of collaboration in a diverse and inclusive team, working together toward technical excellence
+ Ability to time manage and prioritize workload to meet tight deadlines
+ Experience with ArcGIS is an asset
+ Experience with Environmental Assessment is an asset
+ Class G License and use of own vehicle is an asset
