A Wastewater Operator-in-Training, based in Rio Rancho, NM, assists and performs in daily operation, monitoring, and maintenance of the wastewater treatment facilities under the supervision of licensed operators. This role is designed to provide hands-on experience and technical knowledge necessary to progress toward wastewater certification Bring your team-focus, adaptability, and commitment to excellence, and we’ll help you grow what drives you - and deliver the world’s most challenging Operations Management projects, together. #omfs #ourjacobs #bia Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Assist in the operation and monitoring of wastewater treatment processes. including pumps, motors, valves, aeration systems and other miscellaneous equipment pertaining to the wastewater system • Performs any combination of tasks pertinent to controlling operation of plants and pumping stations • Preform routine sampling, testing and monitoring wastewater, sludge and effluent quality while recording and reporting data accurately • Operates treatment facilities to control flow and processing of wastewater, sludge, and effluent • Performs and supports preventative/corrective maintenance and minor repairs on mechanical equipment. Including custodial duties and safety practices (i.e. housekeeping, sweep, mop, weed control, wash down, etc.) • Operates equipment either manually or by remote (SCADA); starts and stops pumps, engines, pumps and generators to control and adjust flow into treatment processes • Observes and reports any abnormalities to supervisor or Lead Operator. Learn to adjust treatment processes based on test results and calculations with supervisor/lead guidance • Works safely and adheres to established environmental, health and safety regulations • Must be fit and able to respond to call-ins in a timely manner • Follows written and oral instructions • Performs other duties as assigned. • High school diploma or GED required, technical training in wastewater environmental science or related field • Willingness and ability to obtain Wastewater level I within the first 2 years • Ability to learn and apply mechanical, mathematical and laboratory skills • Strong attention to detail and willingness to follow procedures and protocol • Ability to work in outside environment’s • Possess a valid driver’s license. • Willingness and ability to obtain Wastewater level I within the first 2 years • Digital literacy (i.e. tablets, phones, Microsoft office) Ideally, You'll Also Have: • Knowledge of the principles, methods, and tools employed in the general operations of engines, pumps, and related equipment; general maintenance work; safe work practices; basic biological and chemical principles Working Conditions and Physical Requirements: • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to stand, kneel, sit, communicate, reach and manipulate objects, tools or controls. The position requires mobility and ability to operate grounds maintenance equipment/vehicles. Duties involve moving materials weighing up to 30 pounds on a regular basis and may weigh in excess of 50 pounds with assistance. Manual dexterity and coordination are required over 50% of the work period while operating equipment such as hand and power tools, weed eater, chain saw, sprayers, etc. • Some of the duties take place outside of buildings with exposure to all types of weather conditions and terrains on a year-round basis.
