About the role. 

Responsible for executing all tasks related to the operation of the Waste Water Treatment plant and Water Recycling Systems.   This position reports to the Environmental Supervisor.  

 

What you’ll be doing.  

Performs all waste water treatment tests and samples, including suspended solids, ammonia nitrate, phosphorous, TKN, ground water, etc in accordance with company and environmental standards. 

Analyze and interpret data from testing to ensure compliance within environmental and operating limits 

Operate of waste water treatment system, both to meet effluent standards and efficient operation of system 

Carry out and assist in maintenance of all waste water treatment equipment such as pumps and irrigation systems 

Understand and utilize all industrial chemicals related to waste treatment. 

Quoting, ordering and procurement of necessary supplies through COUPA and other plant systems.   

Management of vendors and contractors.  Including safe work planning with contractors for tasks carried out on site. 

Ensure accurate records and documentation. 

Carry out regulatory testing.  Ensure that all samples are taken as required to meet compliance requirements. 

Working with local growers to coordinate field activities (including soil sampling program, irrigation – both McCain water and SMRID water, pipeline work, repairs, etc)  

Understand and support regulatory reporting requirements and compliance obligations 

Responsible for general upkeep and maintenance of grounds at waste treatment site. 

Will be “on call” as per scheduled rotation. 

Performs other duties as assigned. 

 

What you’ll need to be successful.  

Capable of working in confined spaces 

Hold or be willing to acquire and maintain H2S, confined space, fall arrest, and other certifications as required  

Experience in various laboratory testing methods is preferred. 

Must have proven history of mechanical inclination. 

Physically capable of performing all job duties (including some heavy lifting). 

Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint). 

Mathematical ability to perform basic calculations. 

Should have good oral and written communication skills. 

Have completed or be willing to complete a forklift training course.  

Must have proven history of safe work habits.  

Minimum High School Graduate. 

  

Physical Requirements 

Able to work in a high humidity, high temperature work environment. 

Physically capable of performing job duties (including some heavy lifting) 

Able to climb stairs to check equipment and product. 

Compensation Package: $30.55 , $31.81 after six months CAD hourly

 

The above reflects the target compensation range for the position at the time of posting. Hiring compensation will be determined based on experience, skill set, education/training, and other organizational needs.
