Leidos is seeking a Warfighter Experience (WX) Designer to join our SCITES 2 team in Doral, FL.
The Leidos Digital Modernization Sector at Leidos currently is looking for a Warfighter Experience (WX) Designer to work onsite in Doral, Florida and have the opportunity to work in a high-profile IT and Cyber Services program supporting the United States Southern Command (USSOUTHCOM) Cyber Information Technology Enterprise Services (SCITES) 2 contract. Our customer maintains a highly demanding mission and requires our support to provide expert technical and professional management support to the commands enterprise Information Technology (IT) services. The Warfighter Experience (WX) Designer will provide direct support to the Program Manager and PMO and play a critical role in the successful execution of the program and support for USSOUTHCOM and the warfighter.
Primary Responsibilities
Ensure that military technologies and systems are not only effective but also user-friendly and intuitive for the warfighters.
Conduct user research, create user personas, and map customer journeys to understand the challenges warfighters face and how they interact with existing systems. Extract operationally relevant insights from both technical data and warfighter feedback.
Create intuitive user interfaces, workflows, and data visualizations that support mission operations and decision-making.
Design small and large-scale digital experiences that are intuitive, aesthetically pleasing, and meet operational requirements, translating complex data into clear, actionable insights.
Collaborate closely with product managers, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to integrate WX design with IT, security, and operational strategies.
Advocate for design-centered changes to ensure systems are aligned with operational goals and prioritize the user's experience.
Create storyboards to communicate design concepts and support user acceptance testing during product development.
Collect feedback and iteratively refine systems and interfaces, using data-driven methodologies to optimize the user experience and ensure operational readiness.
Monitor WX performance to identify opportunities for improvement in usability and accessibility.
Ensure improvements enhance the warfighter's ability to operate effectively in contested environments.
Required Qualifications:
BA degree and 8+ years of relevant experience or master’s with 6+ years of prior relevant experience.
Must be a US Citizen and possess and be able to maintain a TS/SCI security clearance.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Experience with WX design tools and potentially military or defense contexts.
Understanding of how to organize complex information to ensure ease of navigation and accessibility.
Experience in developing and testing design concepts at various stages of development to gather user feedback and refine designs.
Strong understanding of applying fundamental graphic design principles for digital products.
Demonstrated experience in designing systems that enhance warfighters’ ability to perceive and process information in their environment to make quick, informed decisions.
Ability to design flexible and customizable solutions to meet the evolving needs of the military scenarios and personnel roles.
Expertise with tools such as Power BI, Qlik or Tableau, to translate complex data into actionable insights.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with DoD networks.
Understanding of how warfighters interact with technology in high-pressure environments.
Knowledge of military workflows, mission operations, and the decision-making process in high-pressure situations.
Experience with UI/UX development processes, potentially including some CSS for web interfaces.
