Westchester, a Chubb Company, is seeking a Vice President of Underwriting to manage a team/territory/product suite within the Environmental Underwriting unit. The role is focused on achieving profitable underwriting results through growth, development, servicing, and underwriting of Westchester’s Environmental business.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead an underwriting team, developing strategies to meet profit and growth goals. Oversee staff development, ensuring high-level performance aligned with Westchester’s underwriting and service standards. Cultivate strong relationships with internal teams, key producers, and external partners. Execute portfolio management strategies to enhance underwriting business acumen and talent retention. Drive the achievement of financial growth and profit targets, ensuring underwriting integrity. Collaborate with producers to maximize business opportunities for Westchester, providing excellent service and meeting quality standards. Participate and/or manage underwriting audits, ensuring the independence of the audit function, and implement product enhancements. Support strategic initiatives and special projects as required by the business unit.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree required.15+ years of experience in underwriting environmental insurance products.Strong understanding of risk management, underwriting principles, and financial statements.Experience with underwriting audits and decision-making processes.Proven ability to develop staff, review environmental due diligence, and negotiate terms.Knowledge of underwriting products, including property, casualty, and specialty lines.Demonstrated leadership skills with a focus on teamwork and collaboration.Excellent verbal, written communication, and negotiation skills.Strong execution, influence management, and organizational abilities.Established wholesale relationships within the industry.

Strong customer focus with an ability to align customer needs with business objectives.Experience in managing complex accounts and executing business plans.Ability to compare coverage and create manuscripts.Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

The pay range for the role is $185,000 to $230,000. The specific offer will depend on an applicant’s skills and other factors.
