In this critical role with the Financial Crime team, you’ll act as a subject matter expert (SME) within the First Line of Defence (1LoD). You’ll use your specialist knowledge related to ongoing monitoring or transaction related financial crime controls to act as an escalation point for alerts. You’ll support the design, implementation, and ongoing effectiveness of financial crime controls ensuring they are risk-based and aligned to regulatory expectations.

The difference you’ll make:
Acting as the escalation point for complex cases or control issues in respective domains
Providing frontline oversight of name and transaction screening controls
Advising on financial crime risks in transactions, including trade-based money laundering and sanctions evasion
Analysing MI and alert performance to identify trends and control enhancements
Providing SME input on the design and calibration of monitoring scenarios
Conducting control testing and thematic reviews to assess monitoring effectiveness
Supporting tuning and optimisation exercises, ensuring alignment with typologies
Reviewing system effectiveness through testing, hit rate analysis, and QA of alert handling
What you’ll bring:
These are the essential requirements you need to be successful in this role:
In-depth working knowledge of AML, CTF and Sanctions regulatory requirements (UK, EU, US)
Practical experience in at least two of: Transaction Monitoring, Trade Finance AML, or Screening Systems
Proven experience of working within wholesale banking environment with knowledge and understanding of investment banking products and associated risks
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
It would also be nice for you to have:
Experience with control testing, alert QA, or system tuning
Analytical, detail-focused, and investigative mindset

This role is based at our offices in Triton Square, London located within easy walking distance from Warren Street and Euston.

To support this, we offer site-based contracts with a hybrid working pattern and our expected level of attendance in an office is at least 3 days a week (pro-rata for part-time roles).
