VP Tax

Our Vice President of Tax is responsible for the global tax function for Generac, including: International, federal, state and local income tax compliance, as well as US indirect and property tax compliance; accounting for income taxes; global tax planning. Leading M&A due diligence, tax structuring and related work. Building, managing and developing professional tax staff. The successful candidate will work cross-functionally across the business and primarily work closely with Corporate Development to identify and execute strategies to lower the Company’s effective tax rate and cash tax payments. Major Responsibilities + Manage completion of federal, state and international income tax returns, including all related analysis and support; + Responsible for accounting for income taxes (ASC 740) in the US and international subsidiaries, including FIN 48 and other valuation allowance reserve + Optimize the Company’s effective tax rate; including R&D tax; + Lead, develop, and implement US & International tax planning projects, including those related to legal entity reorganizations & structuring, US tax reform, operational initiatives, global operating model considerations, transfer pricing, and financing, etc.; + Evaluate and manage the impact of US Tax Reform; + Assist with M&A due diligence, tax structuring and integration; + Manage calculations of tax attributes and other items related to foreign corporations; + Oversee sales & use and property tax functions; + Direct audit defense of international, federal and state income tax filings, as well as state & local sales & use tax filings; + Administer transfer pricing, management fee and royalty arrangements; + Supervise, mentor and coach professional staff; + Liaison with management and Accounting staff on tax related issues; Work cross-functionally with all levels of management across the Company; + Ensure that appropriate internal controls/SOX compliance are in place over accounting for income taxes; + Manage/minimize cash tax payments; + Designs and directs the work of the functional area. Selects, coaches and develops the team, setting objectives that align with company strategy to inspire and motivate the team. Manages organizational talent through performance management, succession planning and development. Designs and directs processes by which team and individual performance are recognized, feedback is consistently delivered and performance is systematically improved Minimum Job Requirements **Education** + Bachelor’s degree in accounting/tax; **Work Experience** + Minimum 15 years of related experience in a senior corporate tax role + Multi-faceted experience with international tax planning, compliance and defense in a global manufacturing environment; + Demonstrated hands-on approach and success in working in a cross-functional, team-based environment. **Knowledge / Skills / Abilities** + In-depth knowledge of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code; + Working knowledge of international tax matters; + Knowledge of U.S. GAAP and Sarbanes Oxley; + Income tax compliance, planning and defense.
