FOX Television Stations owns and operates 29 full power broadcast television stations in the U.S. These include stations located in 14 of the top 15 largest designated market areas, or DMAs, and duopolies in 11 DMAs, including the three largest DMAs (New York, Los Angeles and Chicago). Of these stations, 18 are affiliated with the FOX Network. In addition to distributing sports, entertainment and syndicated content, our television stations collectively produce approximately 1,200 hours of local news every week. These stations leverage viewer, distributor and advertiser demand for the FOX Network’s national content.

JOB DESCRIPTION

FOX 32 WFLD/WPWR  is looking for a dynamic VP/General Sales Manager to lead our broadcast, digital and OTT sales teams. The successful candidate will develop a strategy for success on every platform and coach our teams to reach revenue goals. The primary purpose and function is to oversee the station’s broadcast and digital sales, traffic and research efforts by performing the following duties:

 

Maximize delivery of ad revenue budgets and share for the Chicago DMA.Hire, supervise, evaluate and train department personnelDevelop fiscal year revenue and expense budgets that are reflective of station plans.Analyze and control expenditures of department to conform to budgetary and company requirementsPackage, price and control station inventory to ensure ad share and revenue budgets are delivered and/or exceeded as plannedPrepare monthly/quarterly sales reportsDevelop strategy for WFLD/WPWR sales department’s business plan and business practicesStay current with market place conditions, competitive changes and tactically adjust sales plans where necessaryDevelop and maintain client relationships as well as agency decision maker relationships to maximize financial opportunitiesPropose adjustments to Local Sales commission plan as necessaryOversee traffic department and commercial scheduling to maximize revenue and to provide the best viewer experienceManage Research Manager and the department’s initiatives with enhancements to tool kit, sales training and one-sheetsOversee political advertising efforts and comply with all FCC requirements relative to the Public FileOversee credit and collections efforts and stay within Fox guidelinesLead digital station initiatives with regard to maximization of revenue along with Digital Sales ManagerProvide General Manager with monthly Sales information for the GM reportWork with General Manager and VP/Finance to develop impact studies that reflect the profit and loss of programming modelsProvide assistance to station programming teamsNotify VP / General Manager of any department or personnel challengesEnsure compliance with all company policies and proceduresConduct weekly sales department meetingsLocal/national travel as neededConduct in person meeting with staff and clientsDirect supervision of Local/National Sales Managers, Director of Traffic, Research Manager, and other team members as needed.Other duties as assigned and deemed necessary.

 

Requirements: Five years’ management experience in Top 25 local television market preferred.  College degree in sales, marketing or related field preferred. Knowledge of inventory management systems, pricing strategies, budgeting, forecasting, national, local and digital media negotiation processes, traffic systems, new business development techniques, sales training, ratings systems and overall sales methods. Good leadership and organizational skills. Ability to make decisions and motivate the staff.

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $325,000.00-375,000.00 annually. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
