VP/Director of Finance
Description We are looking for an experienced and strategic VP/Director of Finance to lead our financial operations in Lackawanna, New York. This role is pivotal in ensuring the organization’s financial health, compliance, and efficiency while driving key initiatives and collaborating with various departments. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in financial leadership, accounting systems, and team management. Responsibilities: • Provide direct leadership and guidance to the Accounts Payable, Accounting, and Payroll teams, ensuring effective training, problem-solving, and performance evaluations. • Oversee the organization’s accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements. • Lead the preparation and review of financial reports, budgets, forecasts, and analytics to support informed decision-making. • Collaborate closely with program staff and funding agencies to ensure accurate and timely financial recording and reporting. • Assess and enhance financial workflows and performance to improve operational efficiency. • Manage the monthly and annual close processes, asset management, and payroll, ensuring all data is accurately recorded and reconciled. • Educate staff on financial principles, including budgets, variance analysis, payroll details, allocations, and cost reports. • Supervise the maintenance and improvement of general ledger systems, recommending software changes to meet organizational needs and enhance reporting capabilities. Requirements • Proven experience in managing annual budgets and overseeing financial reporting processes. • Expertise in month-end close procedures and asset management. • Strong knowledge of budgeting processes and cash flow forecasting. • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop accounting teams. • Advanced proficiency in financial systems and software, with the ability to implement enhancements. • Exceptional analytical skills to evaluate and improve workflows and financial performance. • Comprehensive understanding of regulatory standards and compliance requirements. • Effective communication skills for educating staff and collaborating with stakeholders.
