\nJob Summary
\nVP Community Benefit is responsible for the oversight and leadership of the system’s efforts to identify, assess, and address critical community needs through strategic partnerships, program development, and resource allocation, while ensuring alignment with the BSW vision and strategies. Leads the comprehensive community health needs assessment process, including researching, analyzing and implementing assessment strategies. Collaborates with leadership to develop strategic plans that align with community needs. Provides oversight and management of the community investment fund and strategy. Oversees grant allocation, architecting grant programs from inception and distributing resources to effectively fund programs aligned with strategy and goals to maximize community impact.
\nSeeks financial and non-financial resources to deliver quantifiable and enduring outcomes to support the programs. Advises leadership on strategic community investments. Establishes and maintains robust collaborative partnerships with key community stakeholders, agencies, non-profit organizations, businesses, and community leaders to leverage resources, maximize impact and address challenges.
\nEssential Functions
\n- Oversees the development, execution and completion of the system’s triennial Community Health Needs Assessment. Provides a comprehensive framework to obtain data collection and analysis to identify emerging issues, priorities and development of our community benefit strategy. Monitors and supervises compliance with federal and state laws and regulations governing community benefit programs and funding.
- Collaborates with leadership to develop strategic plans that align with community needs, incorporating data-driven insights into program design and resource allocation. Establishes metrics to encompass measurable goals, objectives and milestones for community impact programs and initiatives to determine effectiveness. Ensures implementation plan is on target and monitors programs with modifications identified and recommended based on the data and feedback for development of future strategies.
- Facilitates, builds and maintains strong collaborative partnerships with key community stakeholders, including government agencies, non-profit organizations, businesses, and community leaders to leverage resources, maximize community impact and address complex community challenges through coalition building and shared resource allocation. Communicates the organization's community benefits initiatives to internal and external stakeholders, and the broader communities for awareness and support.
- Develops and oversees the community benefits budget, ensuring appropriate authorization and allocation of funds across programs and initiatives. Compiles reports and presentations related to funding and established metrics for each program/initiative. Develop and communicate funds’ use and financial reporting.
- Identifies funding opportunities to support community needs initiatives. Develops compelling proposals and presentations to secure grants and other funding resources. Manages the grantmaking process, including identifying potential grant recipients, reviewing proposals, and overseeing grant distribution to community programs.
- Collaborates with BSWH leadership on policies and legislative changes that support community needs at the local, state and federal levels.
- Leads and mentors’ team by providing performance feedback and guidance on program implementation.
Key Success Factors
\n- Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business, public policy, political science or related field preferred. Master's degree preferred.
- 7+ years of experience in community affairs, public affairs, community health, healthcare operations, or related area.
- 3+ years of experience in a leadership role.
- Proven experience in non-profit management, grantmaking, or community outreach
- Deep understanding of community development principles and challenges.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills to effectively convey complex information to various audiences.
- Strong analytical skills to establish metrics, budget and monitor performance.
- Project management experience as ability to manage multiple deadlines and balance achieving near-term results with building and scaling long term.
