The Firmwide Data Office (FDO) is a group within Cyber Data Risk and Resiliency Division that focuses on data as a key priority of Morgan Stanley's overall Strategy. FDO develops common principles for ownership, distribution and consumption of data, tooling and standards for data accessibility, a framework for governing data and help address data architecture and data quality issues for new and existing initiatives at the firm by collaborating heavily with various business units and technology functions in the firm.
Position Description
This Business Analyst position is for a technical product used by development teams across the firm to catalog their technical system metadata into the Firmwide Data Catalog within the SDLC process. The capabilities of the product enable several data governance outcomes to be met and includes core engineering work to integrate various applications to central Firmwide Data Catalog and Data Quality controls. The candidate will lead discussions to understand needs of stakeholders and translate these into capabilities/features to be delivered through the squad, and advocate for the adoption of the product across the firm.

Job Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be a highly motivated team player with acumen towards solving problems.

Key responsibilities of this role are -
o Identify capabilities/features to meet needs of the customer, translate into user stories.
o Stakeholder management (across divisions, programs, and fleet) and understand/advocate the relative priority of capabilities/features for the product.
o Collaborate with squad to refine user stories and shape solutions.
o Leading Product Reviews to share advancements in the product and to collect 'voice of the customer' feedback.
o Present requirements/business design into decision making forums to govern decisions.
o Guide and mentor junior BAs within the team.
o Ensure consistency and interoperability of their product with other products in the platform.
o Knowledge sharing with our global team.
o Maximizing the product's value; ensure measurable adoption of new capabilities and features.
o Publishing documentation, guidance, and training for the product.

o Develop domain expertise in Data Governance and Enterprise Metadata Management. QUALIFICATIONS
Skills Required: Must Have
o Financial Services industry experience with a solid understanding of Capital Markets/Banking/ Finance domain.
o Prior experience as a business analyst.
o Ability to conduct data analysis to make data driven decisions.
o Understanding of software enterprise architecture patterns.
o Understanding of software development processes, and tools that developers use to deploy their changes as a part of CI/CD pipelines.
o Understanding of methods used by systems to communicate/transfer data (e.g. databases, APIs, files, message queues).
o Ability to create detailed user stories, working with users and squad to refine stories.
o Strong problem-solving skills, business acumen, and demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences.
o Experience of working as part of a global team with senior Stakeholder Management.
o Agile software development practices, TDD, Continuous Integration.

Skills Desired: Good to have
o Experience on Data Governance - Concepts, Policies and Principles.
o Certifications relevant to Governance, Modelling, Architecture
o Experience in any Data Governance Tool like Collibra etc.
o Hands on software development experience.
