Job Summary
The VP of Internal Audit will report directly to the Chairman of the Audit Committee with a dotted line to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO). In this role, the VP will work closely in partnership with senior management throughout Hub Group to lead the audit function and assess the company’s processes for identifying and managing business risk and delivering organizational effectiveness and efficiency. In this role, the VP will have exceptional business leadership skills and be able to demonstrate superior business acumen and ethics.
Essential Job Functions
Directs and executes financial, operational and compliance audits in accordance with the appropriate professional audit standards in the areas of safeguarding of assets, compliance with laws, regulations, policies and procedures, and reliability and integrity of data. Provides oversight or conducts a variety of audit functions such as reviewing controls, policies, and procedures, investigating issues, records, accounts, operations, and related factors. Communicates any internal control weakness and recommendations for complying with findings and legal requirements to management and the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors. Manage and mentor the Internal Audit Team to the highest standards of ethical conduct and practice. Work with external auditors, auditing consultants, and internal business unit managers to ensure compliance. Evaluate adequacy of existing internal controls and make recommendations aimed at reducing key business risks. Create an auditing system/plan to monitor ongoing effectiveness of internal controls and regulation compliance. Communicate audit process, any necessary remediation, and/or process improvement recommendations to the Audit Committee and Senior Management via presentations and informational meetings. Assist business unit leaders with projects related to improved processes/controls. Assist VP Corporate Development and Finance Team with due diligence for acquisitions. Any other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
8-10 years of work experience, ideally including at least 5 years of combined experience with a major accounting firm and/or internal audit in a publicly traded company. Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), and/or other related certifications. Experience and expertise in building positive working relationships with the various critical internal and external stakeholders including regulators, and external auditors. Experience leading and performing complex projects. Broad familiarity of key information technology risks and controls and use of technology-based audit techniques. Sophisticated proficiency using data analysis techniques. Experience presenting to senior management and Board of Directors. Experience in a highly dynamic environment undergoing change. Experience in/with merger and acquisition methodologies setting strategy, due diligence, deal approval and close, and integration. Experience with risk assessments. Experience with Sarbanes Oxley Section 404 testing. Minimal travel within the US and to our operations in Canada and Mexico. Ability to manage multiple priorities as well as flexibility to adapt to change with new systems and methods while working in a team environment.
Salary Range
$165,000 - $200,000/year base salary + bonus + RSU eligibility
