Comcast NBCUniversal has announced its intent to create a new publicly traded company ('Versant') comprised of most of NBCUniversal's cable television networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, Oxygen, E!, SYFY and Golf Channel along with complementary digital assets Fandango, Rotten Tomatoes, GolfNow, GolfPass, and SportsEngine. The well-capitalized company will have significant scale as a pure-play set of assets anchored by leading news, sports and entertainment content. The spin-off is expected to be completed during 2025. Job Summary: + Reporting to the SVP, Content Strategy, this leader will help lead the development of MSNBC’s direct-to-consumer products, helping develop and implement the strategic vision of our subscription business, this includes building and connecting with non-linear audiences. They will convene leaders from across MSNBC and VERSANT leadership and through collaboration and coordination, build and oversee the cross-team processes needed to construct a sustainable DTC business.   + Responsibilities: + Supporting the business to build out the DTC strategy and focusing on deep understanding of MSNBC communities and building strategies to engage meaningful opportunities with clear revenue alignment. + Develop new content franchises with Editorial in support of existing subscriber and acquisition efforts, and new DTC content initiatives + Work closely with editorial leadership (Digital & TV) to optimize content to achieve subscriber growth targets + Working with vendors and partners to support the product initiatives of the business + Own the strategic relationship with all key MSNBC and Versant stakeholders to maximize internal opportunities and partnerships to bring strategic initiatives to life + Model performance expectations for strategic initiatives and evolve strategy in line with maximizing audience and revenue opportunities. + Partners with Editorial + • Own the P&L and key financial and operating metrics for the subscription business • Ensure execution of all key objectives that support the financial and growth plan • Architecting and managing the operational teams needed to build a DTC business, based on a deep understanding of the strategy and communities of MSNBC to maximize audience and revenue opportunities, including hiring and managing the teams responsible for acquisition and retention. • Align and coordinate product roadmap with product leadership to improve customer experience and lifecycle journey with a focus on acquisition and retention. • Develop strategic audience growth plans using owned and organic channels (e.g. site, app, social, search). • Collaborate closely with marketing team to set pricing & promo strategy and budgets for paid acquisition based on LTV benchmarks and goals. • Develop and spearhead external partnership opportunities (e.g. bundling, platforms) • Build and oversee enterprise subscription plan for key sectors. • Partner with research and data strategy teams to build and implement actionable reporting to support subscription and marketing efforts. • Working with the Content Strategy leadership team and its partners across MSNBC and Versant to identify potential new revenue streams. • Partners with Product, Tech, Design.     Requirements: + At least 10 years’ experience in a creative and strategic digital development or content environment + Exceptional organizational skills and experience managing complex, highly matrixed organizations. + Experience coordinating and developing strategic plans and roadmaps across teams (such as editorial, marketing, tech and finance), including preferably at a news organization   Desired Characteristics:  + Self-starter.
