VMware Horizon View VDI Support Engineer

Job Description:

Responsibilities

Image & Application Management: Build and update master Golden Images; integrate applications via App Volumes or ThinApp, ensuring compatibility and patch currency.Non-Persistent Desktop Pools: Configure and maintain Instant Clone/Desktop Composer pools, manage OS refresh schedules, and troubleshoot provisioning or recomposition failures.Persistent Desktop Pools: Support full-clone or user-assigned desktops, handle user-data persistence, and assist with profile management solutions (e.g., UEM).End-User Incident Support: Serve as Level 2 support for desktop connectivity, performance degradation, printer redirection, and peripheral mapping issues.Patch & Update Automation: Coordinate monthly patching of images and application packages; automate roll-out via App Volumes, MSIX, or PowerShell scripts.Performance Monitoring: Use Horizon Performance Tracker and third-party tools to analyze logon times, resource utilization, and end-user experience metrics.Process Improvement: Identify and implement optimizations in pool management, image build pipelines, and support workflows to reduce downtime and increase agility.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or equivalent.3–5 years of direct experience managing VMware Horizon View non-persistent and persistent desktops.Solid grasp of Windows 10/11 deployment (MDT, SCCM, or Horizon OSD task sequences) and application layering technologies.Expertise in App Volumes, UEM, and profile management integrations.Proficiency in scripting (PowerShell/Bash) for automation of image builds and health checks.
