Job Description
The Contract Vivarium Operations Technician will play a crucial role in supporting the operations of the vivarium and assisting in non-clinical study data collection. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in animal welfare and research advancement.
ResponsibilitiesPerform husbandry tasks for study animals, including cage changes.Conduct daily checks on study animals to promote their welfare.Collect food weight data for study purposes.Execute colony management tasks effectively.Oversee and perform routine maintenance of the facility.Receive and handle rodents with care and confidence.Monitor vivarium conditions using specialized systems.Assist in daily pest control checks.Operate cage wash, autoclave, and laundry equipment.Evaluate and implement strategies to ensure operational compliance.Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and study protocols.Document activities with strict adherence to Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs) and Good Documentation Practices (GDP).Essential SkillsExperience in animal husbandry and handling, particularly rodents.Knowledge of animal health and vivarium operations.Strong documentation skills and attention to detail.Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.Ability to follow laboratory methods and SOPs precisely.Additional Skills & QualificationsAssociate or bachelor's degree, preferably in a scientific field.Prior experience in mice handling is a must.Ability to work holidays and weekends.Passionate about animal welfare.Experience in laboratory animal handling and restraint techniques.Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.Strong communication skills and ability to follow verbal instructions.Work Environment
This role is primarily based in a laboratory environment, where you will spend most of the day working with animals. Some desk work is also required. The facility is a brand-new, state-of-the-art space in a growing startup company specializing in cell and gene therapy manufacturing.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
