Description
This position is responsible for coordinating the recruitment, training, and supervision of volunteers who work for the Visitor and Convention Bureau (VCB). The VCB Volunteer Coordinator interacts with tourists to provide information and support, and assists in producing special events. Work is performed under minimal supervision but receives direction as needed from the Visitor Services Director. Performance is measured by the effectiveness of program implementation and feedback from the public.
Duties and Responsibilities
+ Interact with volunteers to provide information, training, and support.
+ Coordinates special projects.
+ Provides technical assistance for visitor services initiatives.
+ Ability to coordinate recruitment of volunteers to work with the Lee County Visitor & Convention Bureau to promote tourism in Lee County at the airport visitor information booths.
+ Provides excellent customer service.
+ Greeting and working with the public in various settings.
Education, Experience, Licensing
+ Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to an associate’s degree or specialized courses/training equivalent to satisfactory completion of two years of college, and two years minimum experience working with volunteers, tourism, and hospitality industry, or closely related experience.
+ Possession of a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record is required
Supplemental Information
+ Preferred candidates will have knowledge of Lee County and its surrounding businesses and organizations.
+ Strong written communication and social media skills for engaging with internal teams, stakeholders, and the public.
+ Knowledge of Microsoft 365 and other technical tools such as Google Sheets, Smartsheet, and Canva.
+ Multilingual abilities are also preferred.
+ Experience in customer service, with the ability to inspire and motivate others.
The work schedule for this position is Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. This role also includes varying nights and weekends as needed, with rotating weekend shifts.
