POSITION SUMMARY:

Proposes and undertakes a mentored, basic and/or clinical research project within the department of ophthalmology. Innovative project or challenge to support a basic and/or clinical research project. This includes but is not limited to: (essential functions). This role will learn basic research mechanisms, analysis, and will be expected to report and present on their outcomes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Read, analyze and summarize published literatureDesign and execute retrospective research studiesAssist in executing prospective research studiesUndertake relevant coursework if required by mentor.Attend relevant meetingsMeet regularly with mentor to review project progress and milestonesPlan and deliver a seminar on the projectTake administrative (inventory, purchasing, etc. ) responsibilities in the lab when necessaryWrite a final report or submit a manuscript to a peer-reviewed journal describing the project and results

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Masters, Pursuing a doctoral degree (MD or PhD) and with prior clinical research experience.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Clinic setting and remotely.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Possible lifting of 10 to 20 lbs., depending on nature of chosen project(s).
