Virus Production Shift Technician
**THE POSITION** We are looking for a Virus Production Shift Technician to join our Virus Production 1 (VP1) department at our manufacturing site in Pirbright. VP1 is a restricted access department devoted to the manufacture of inactivated viral antigen used to make vaccines that are sold across the world. As a Virus Production Shift Technician, you will participate in the production of bulk volumes of inactivated Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) or Blue Tongue Virus (BTV) antigen for use in vaccine manufacturing, whilst fully respecting HSE, Biosafety/Biosecurity, and GMP standards. The role incorporates practical manufacturing operations, aseptic operations, and provides an opportunity to learn and develop numerous skills. This is a fully-site based role in Pirbright. **KEY RESPONSIBILITIES** • Work in a team of shift technicians (2 teams of 3 operators each comprised of 1x Senior Technician and 2x Technicians) led by an area Supervisor • Participate in the manufacture of bulk volumes of inactivated virus antigen fully respecting UK and company Biosafety. EHS and GMP standards • Perform cleaning, decontamination and steam sterilization of vessels and plant following SOPs • Ensure department batch record documentation is filled out contemporaneously and in full compliance with GDP • Manage department stock levels ad ensure equipment is cleaned and autoclave sterilised • Grade A/B clean room operations performing aseptic manufacturing **WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR** • Strong organizational and leadership skills • Ability to work methodically and carefully within tight timelines • Excellent problem-solving abilities • Experience in industrial pharmaceutical production in a regulated environment • Proficiency in IT, preferably with SAP/GBS experience • Experience working in graded GMP environments **WHY THIS IS A GREAT PLACE TO WORK** Boehringer Ingelheim has been recognised as a Top Employer in the UK.
