Virtualization Services Reliability Engineer
**Job Description Summary** This Virtualization Services Reliability Engineer role is accountable for supporting technical build and operational delivery for GE Aerospace’s virtualized environments. This requires a technical understanding of server virtualization technologies that underpin the performance and availability of critical business applications to GE Aerospace. This role will work with GE’s partners and suppliers to operate the IT virtualization footprint at current Data Centers and sites, including operational overview and support of VMware and other virtualization solutions. This role works closely with GE Aerospace Cloud, Data Center, Infrastructure, Compute, and Network teams to support GE Aerospace. **Job Description** **Essential Responsibilities:** In this role you will: + Manage technical operations of server virtualization technologies for GE Aerospace. + Act as a point of escalation and support with technical partners and suppliers for ongoing operational support, transitions, and updates related to virtualization services across GE Aerospace hosting. + Identify performance bottlenecks within the VMware environment, analyze system metrics, and implement optimizations to improve overall system responsiveness and efficiency. + Provide technical delivery and support across a range of infrastructure components and services as they relate to virtualization requirements and technologies, including (but not limited to) Windows, Linux/Unix, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, NTP, Replication, VMware, and AWS. + Strong understanding of VMware technologies including vSphere, vCenter, NSX, vSAN, VROPS, VXrail and VCF + Proficiency in scripting languages like Python, PowerShell, or Bash for automation tasks + Knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines + Support managed services teams with the upgrading, patching, and maintenance of virtualization software/hardware as required. + Partner with Cyber Security to ensure vulnerability management is operationally effective for GE Aerospace across its virtualization services at its sites and Data Centers. + Help reduce and remove GE Aerospace EoS/EoL (tech debt) strategy for virtualization technologies. + Analyze system usage trends to proactively forecast capacity needs, optimize resource allocation, and prevent performance degradation during peak usage periods. + Support GE Aerospace evaluation of emerging virtualization technologies, industry, and market trends to assist in project development and/or operational support activities for virtualization. + Help build future infrastructure and virtualization services for our sites and CoLo services. **Basic Qualifications:** + Bachelor’s degree in computer science or in “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math). A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in server virtualization or infrastructure. + Recent experience that shows the ability to support enterprise-grade virtualization infrastructure. + Experience managing virtualization infrastructure solutions. + Experience communicating across multiple stakeholder levels, including suppliers and leadership. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job. **Desired Characteristics:** + Able to analyze, diagnose, and resolve deep technical virtualization challenges as they relate to the implementation of infrastructure-based technologies. + Experience with monitoring tools like NewRelic, VROPS or Splunk + Technical tenacity with an intense focus on resolving technical roadblocks. + Automation-first technical thinker with a desire to improve processes and adopt common technical best-fit practices. + Ability to learn legacy and new technologies across virtualization. + Collaborates with project management on reporting project status, issues, risks, and benefits. + Meets with project leaders to ensure progress towards architectural alignment with project goals and requirements. + Investigate complex system issues, conduct thorough root cause analysis, and implement preventive measures to avoid future occurrences. + Ensures understanding of issues and presents clear rationale. + High Say/Do Ratio. + Able to influence multiple levels of technical stakeholders to deliver advantageous outcomes. **Note:** The salary range for this position is $93,000 - $135,000 USD Annual. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. In addition, this position is eligible for a performance bonus/variable incentive plan. This posting is expected to close on July, 25th, 2025.
