Job Summary

Virtual Production Producer Lead for University of Michigan (Ann Arbor).

Oversee the planning, execution, and management of advanced virtual production projects leveraging strong technical expertise in immersive technologies, including LED walls, real- time game engines, and media servers, as well as leadership capabilities. Manage the daily operations of virtual production stages, troubleshoot complex technical issues, and collaborate with faculty, students, and production teams to produce high-quality educational and multimedia content.

Hybrid schedule - 1 day work from home, 4 days in office.

Responsibilities*

Specific duties include:

Schedule and supervise virtual production filmingSet up and operate equipment on a virtual production stage, including but not limited to: LED walls, real-time render notes, tracking systems, lighting control, cameras, microphones, teleprompters, and other related audio/video equipmentCoordinate the day-to-day operations of the virtual stage, including debugging hardware and software, maintaining equipment, and providing technical guidance to colleagues on complex issuesWork with CAI colleagues and partners to develop critical processes, workflows, and training materials related for an audience of media technologists, media designers, extended reality developers, project managers, faculty, and other collaboratorsConsult on the design of virtual production projects with faculty, learning experience designers, media designers, design managers, and other stakeholdersServe as a digital image technician, working in collaboration with cinematographers on camera settings, signal integrity, and image manipulation to achieve the highest image quality and creative goals of the projectDesign methods to create advanced media to support the next generation of educational contentWrite and edit scripts for video content as neededProvide appropriate coaching and support for presenters during lecture recording sessionsOrganize and archive project files in a way that is easily discoverable and could be recovered for future productionsContribute to content quality control evaluation and oversightRequired Qualifications*Master's degree in Emerging Media or closely related immersive technology field to include academic knowledge of AR/VR/XR for storytelling and virtual production and emerging
media narrative development, production, and project management.2 years of broadcast journalism experience to include: producing, shooting, and editing educational and/or news videos for digital, social, and TV platforms.Modes of Work
