Virtual Community Engagement & Design Intern (Part-Time)

Job Description

SUMMARY: As a Virtual Community Engagement & Design Intern, you will contribute to the creative and operational development of virtual K12 zones aimed at engaging younger students. This internship is ideal for college students seeking real-world experience in content creation, event planning, digital design, and online community management. You will collaborate closely with the program manager and other interns to develop seasonal themes, digital assets, and interactive experiences that enhance student engagement in a metaverse-style environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:   Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties.

·  Digital Content Development: Use platforms such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite to design interactive assets and themed scenes for virtual events and educational activities.

·  Event Coordination: Assist in planning, organizing, and executing engaging virtual events (e.g., student clubs, community projects, themed social gatherings).

·  Creative Collaboration: Participate in brainstorming sessions to propose innovative content ideas that reflect seasonal trends and student interests.

·  Project & Time Management: Maintain an organized digital portfolio of projects, track tasks using project management tools, and meet set deadlines.

·  User Experience Enhancement: Contribute ideas to optimize virtual environments for engagement, accessibility, and inclusivity.

·  Feedback Integration: Embrace constructive feedback and iterate on designs to improve quality and user appeal.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no formal supervisory responsibilities.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:   

·  Enrollment: Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university (undergraduate or graduate level).

·  Technical Skills: Proficiency with Canva or similar design tools; basic spreadsheet skills (e.g., Excel, Google Sheets) for tracking progress.

·  Virtual Environment Comfort: Familiarity with or interest in digital platforms, virtual worlds, or online learning spaces.

·  Personal Traits: Motivated, self-directed, and able to work independently with a creative and proactive approach to tasks.

Certificates and Licenses: None required.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

·  Interest in Design: Demonstrated interest in digital design, education technology, virtual world-building, or student engagement.

·  Creative Portfolio: Willingness to maintain a portfolio that highlights key projects and outcomes during the internship.

·  Organizational Skills: Ability to manage time efficiently and complete responsibilities within the weekly 4.5-hour limit.

·  Team Collaboration: Comfortable contributing in a team environment, participating in virtual meetings, and providing constructive input.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:  This is a virtual internship available to residents of the 50 U.S. states and the District of Columbia.

This is a home-based position.

Compensation & Benefits: Stride, Inc. considers a person’s education, experience, and qualifications, as well as the position’s work location, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value when determining a new employee’s salary level. Salaries will differ based on these factors, the position’s level and expected contribution, and the employee’s benefits elections. Offers will typically be in the bottom half of the range.

We anticipate this position will pay a salary of $14.42 to $22.00 per hour. This salary is not guaranteed, as an individual’s compensation can vary based on several factors. These factors include, but are not limited to, geographic location, experience, training, education, and local market conditions. Eligible employees may receive a bonus. Stride offers a robust benefits package for eligible employees that can include health benefits, retirement contributions, and paid time off.
