Video Desk Producer

Reuters is looking for a talented television news journalist to join our team in Singapore. You will help deliver breaking and planned news coverage to more than 1,000 broadcasters and hundreds of digital outlets around the world. You will have a strong ability to remain focused and organised under pressure and a passion for working with high-performance teams. You should be excited and informed about international news and have an ability to work to tight deadlines.

This is a full-time desk position on a shift pattern that involves some weekend work. This role mainly focuses on delivering breaking and developing stories out of the United States.

About the Role

As a Video Desk Producer you will:

Work as part of our production team editing off live video and moving coverage from across the world to deliver to clients at speed.

Coordinate with crews across the Western Hemisphere late in their day to ensure lives and edits are produced quickly.

Produce tight, well-written accurate news copy to deadline.

Be customer-focused and pitch story ideas that resonate across broadcast and digital platforms.

Respond quickly and confidently to breaking news in the Western Hemisphere.

Coordinate and schedule coverage for any major planned events released overnight in other regions.

Manage client queries on news out of the Western Hemisphere after those centres have closed for the day.

Uphold Reuters Trust Principles of independence, integrity and freedom from bias.

About You

You're a fit for the role of Video Desk Producer if you have:

At least 18 months’ experience in professional journalism in a broadcast or agency environment.

Excellent news judgment, a global mindset and a passion for breaking news.

Strong video editing and script writing skills.

The ability to remain calm under pressure.

An interest in news from North America and Latin America.

A clear understanding of the news video needs of major broadcasters and digital clients.

An ability to operate at the highest standards of speed and accuracy.

A track record of being an organised team player.

Fluent English – both written and oral.
