What is Victory Academy at Ridge? 

This school-age education program transforms the lives of our community’s most challenged students through the highest levels of individual attention in special education, in a day setting. We serve students in grades 3 through 12 who are educationally diagnosed with emotional disturbance, intellectual disability, multiple disabilities or traumatic brain injury.

Dedicated staff foster a trauma-sensitive environment that encourages growth, safety, responsibility, and respectful learning. We begin with the end in mind, with a goal to return the student to their school district, completion of high school, enrollment in college or preparation for employment.

Education Aide

The Education Aide provides academic support and services to pediatrics, adolescents, and adults adjusting for the effects of age, culture, background, experience and developmental status. As a support of academic, behavioral and life skills this employee directly supervises students in areas of educational programming and activities.

Hourly Pay Rate: $18.00 Qualifications: Minimum Education: High School Diploma/GED Equivalent Minimum Experience: No experience required, but would prefer some experience in the mental health field

 

Teacher Assistant

The Teacher Assistant helps the Special Education Teacher in providing quality education in a language enriched environment. The Teacher Assistant supports the teacher by following his/her lead to teaching life skills, socialization skills, and pre-academics.

Hourly Pay Rate: $19.00 Qualifications: Minimum Education: High School Diploma/GED Equivalent Minimum Experience: 1-2 years Required Certification: New York State Teaching Assistant Certification (Level I, II, or III)
