SUMMARY

Reporting to the Executive Vice President, Operations at Montage International, the Vice President of Operations is responsible for the overall success of all hotel operations, guest and resident service experience, financial profitability, and market share across both of the Company’s brand portfolios, Montage Hotels & Resorts and Pendry Hotels & Resorts, including both existing operational hotels as well as those in pre-opening. Through engaged and effective leadership, this position will embrace and exude a service and management philosophy driven by the Company’s core values and consistent with the Company’s associate-focused culture. This dynamic position will ensure that Montage International achieves the highest levels of guest, resident and associate satisfaction, providing innovative and creative thinking to effectively differentiate the Company from its competitive set and exceed fair market share, while also driving financial performance and profitability. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Develop, communicate, and administer a company-wide hotel operations strategy, that adds value and efficiency to the organization in both the short-term and long-term.Build positive relationships and rapport with ownership, asset managers, residents, hotel and corporate leadership teams.Drive guest and resident experience and loyalty through passionate focus on service delivery and creative programming.Champion Company culture and values supporting “A Life Well Lived”.Together with other senior executives, facilitate the Company’s positioning as an employer-of-choice by pursuing a balanced leadership style that champions and promotes the Company’s associate-focused culture and drives associate engagement, while at the same time delivering on financial performance obligations and expectations.Deliver results through attentive management of financials and a data-driven approach, with a focus on revenue generation, cost containment, productivity improvement, forecasting accuracy and cash flow management.Working with on-property leadership teams and corporate support teams, drive property-level annual budgeting process.  Lead ongoing strong performance against approved annual plans in top line revenues, GOP, flow through, excellent guest satisfaction metrics, industry-leading associate engagement, limited turnover, and positive owner relations.Remain current in luxury hospitality trends and identify products/services to pursue that drive gains in guest engagement and ensure associate development.Manage and prepare pre-opening budgets and hotel operations budgets for new properties, property conversions and capital projects.  Oversee all pre-opening operational activities.Create a performance-based culture that collaborates closely with business leaders and their respective teams.  Lead by example to demonstrably work closely with other executives across the organization’s functions to create an exceptional overall experience for guest and residents, building collaborative, high-performing teams in the process. Drive development of, and thereafter ensure implementation and maintenance of, standard operating procedures, operational standards, corporate brand guidelines, and internal controls at each property.Attract, develop and retain talent by mentoring, motivating, coaching, consistently providing feedback, and holding each other accountable.Working with other Company executives, participate in formulating and implementing Company-wide strategic initiatives that distinguish the Company as an industry-leader and add value.Support the Company’s business development activities by providing demonstrated examples of operational excellence and business successes.Perform other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is required.10+ years of operational experience with a luxury hotel group and/or hotel management company including on-property (GM) and at least 3 years in above-property leadership roles.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES

Emotional intelligence, empathy and charisma.History of leading successful operations and financial assignments within the luxury hospitality space.  Proven expertise building consumer-based operations standards and offerings.Significant P&L experience along with a track record of building businessesProven leadership and collaboration abilities; experience managing and building high performing teams across multiple properties.Demonstrable ability and proven track record in strategy-building and implementationExperience developing and implementing policies and initiatives across an organization or enterprise.Excellent judgment, along with superior decision-making and problem-solving skills.Executive-level oral and written communication skills and the ability to marshal cross-disciplinary resources.Proven ability to independently manage, prioritize, multi-task and successfully execute multiple cross-functional projects concurrently in a fast-paced, dynamic and deadline-driven environment.Demonstrated ability to establish rapport and credibility with operational leaders.Ability to establish and maintain excellent relationships with C-level executives internally and externally to advance Company performance and capabilities.Ability to translate long-term strategic vision into short- and medium-term tactics, including operational plans, goals and projects.  Must have the ability to effectively communicate and drive the technical details of these tactics, while also providing high-level summaries to reach and impact multiple constituencies up and down the organization.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Most work tasks are performed indoors. Must be able to sit at a desk for up to 5 hours per day. Walking and standing are required the rest of the working day.  Travel to each property on at least a quarterly basis is expected.  Other travel, as necessary.

The pay scale for the Vice President, Operations is from $232,000.00 to $290,000.00. The pay scale is the base salary or hourly wage range, exclusive of incentive pay such as commissions, piece rates, gratuities, and the like, that Montage reasonably expects to pay for the position.
