Vice President of Quality
**Position Summary:** The Baystate Health **Vice President of Quality** is responsible for development of an integrated, system-wide approach to hospital quality performance, measurement and improvement throughout Baystate Health, including our academic medical center and community hospitals. Reporting directly to the **Chief Medical Officer (CMO)** , the VP of Quality is the key senior leader responsible for strategy, infrastructure, organization and performance on quality of hospital care throughout BH. The Vice President of Quality leads strategic initiatives to optimize performance on mandated state, federal or commercial payor funded, or regulatory metrics or other local quality reporting as required due to specialized care provided at a Baystate Health site. **Essential Responsibilities:** **Strategic and Operational Leadership** + Develop and execute hospital-wide strategies for quality improvement, clinical effectiveness, and patient safety. + Collaborate with the CMO and hospital leadership to set and monitor quality-related goals and outcomes. + Builds structure, processes , governance and systems to standardize quality measurement, assessment, and performance improvement across the 4 Baystate Health hospitals + Manages quality teams at Baystate Health hospitals, ensuring collaboration and standardization where appropriate, while recognizing situations where a more nuanced and specialized approach may be necessary **Quality Improvement** + Lead implementation of evidence-based quality improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, PDSA cycles). + Promote a culture of safety and high reliability across all departments. **Patient Experience** + Leads the Patient and Guest Relations team in developing and implementing processes to investigate and respond to patient complaints + Leads data driven performance improvement in patient experience by co-chairing the Baystate Health (BH) Patient Experience Committee with the BH Chief Nurse Executive **Accreditation and Regulatory Compliance** + Collaborates with the VP, Safety and Regulatory Affairs, to ensure hospital compliance with The Joint Commission, CMS Conditions of Participation, state health department regulations, and other applicable standards. + Supports data needs for accreditation survey preparation, readiness assessments, and corrective action plans. **Data Analytics and Performance Monitoring** + Oversee the collection, analysis, and reporting of clinical quality data and outcome measures. + Collaborates with the center for analytics to develop system wide infrastructure for administration of quality reporting as well as processes and governance around dissemination and transparent sharing of data + Monitor performance indicators such as hospital-acquired infections (HAIs), readmission rates, mortality, and patient satisfaction (e.g., HCAHPS). + Present reports and dashboards to the CMO, executive team, and Board Quality Committee. + Provides quality reports to relevant stakeholders as necessary **Interdepartmental Collaboration and Leadership** + Partner with nursing, medical staff, infection prevention, risk management, and operations to improve quality across departments. + Lead and develop a multidisciplinary quality team, including directors of patient safety, clinical documentation improvement (CDI), and performance improvement. + Provides support and oversight of implementation of external equity focused regulatory and incentive requirements and performance (The Joint Commission, CMS, MA Health) **Minimum Qualifications:** + Master’s degree in Nursing, Public Health, Healthcare Administration, or a related field. + Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in healthcare quality and safety, including 5 years in a leadership role in a hospital setting. + In-depth knowledge of hospital regulatory requirements and clinical performance metrics. + Experience with hospital quality performance reports; extensive training in quality improvement principles + Strong interpersonal and leadership, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to partner **Preferred Qualifications:** + Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ), Lean Six Sigma, or equivalent. + Experience in academic medical centers or multi-hospital systems. **You Belong At Baystate** At Baystate Health we know that treating one another with dignity and equity is what elevates respect for our patients and staff.
