Learn more at https://www.jnj.com/innovative-medicine **THE OPPORTUNITY** As the Vice President Asia Pacific Medical Affairs lead, you will be responsible for developing and implementing the Asia Pacific (AP) Medical Affairs (MAF) Vision, Mission, and Strategy. In this role, you will set the strategic direction and provide leadership for Medical Affairs activities across the Asia Pacific region, focusing on external medical and scientific relationships, data generation, medical education, and medical information. You will approve the AP Medical Affairs Therapeutic Areas strategic plans, ensuring alignment with the Global strategy and coordination with AP Strategic Marketing and Market Access. Your goal will be to optimize support for healthcare providers and patients, maximizing the value of products in both the pipeline and the marketed portfolio. Collaboration is key in this position; you will partner with various teams including AP Strategic Marketing, Market Access, Government Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, Communications, Pharmacovigilance, Healthcare Compliance, R&D, and Clinical Operations. Additionally, you will provide critical guidance and support to medical functions such as Medical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, and Pharmacovigilance among Local Operating Companies within the region. As a Regional MAF spokesperson, you will drive Medical Affairs excellence by developing and leading Medical Operations throughout the region. **RESPONSIBILITIES** **AP Medical Affairs Leadership** + To act as the **AP MAF leader** and drive the strategy for MAF across the Region + **Build and implement MAF AP strategy** + **Represent AP** voice at **regional APMS, APLT and global teams** (including GMAC for MAF related matters) + To provide **scientific leadership** for MAF function and other AP functions (Commercial, Health Economics, Regulatory Affairs etc.) + **To oversee Regional strategic and annual MAF plans for the franchises** + To Ensure effective and regular communications between **Global, Regional and local MAF teams** + **Being a member of the GMAC** + To ensure input from AP Region into the Global IEGP analysis and strategies + To ensure input into Global Clinical Development Programs with the aim of having representation from AP countries across all franchises + To contribute to the maintenance of compliance in AP MAF and enhancement of capabilities across the region + **Accountable for line managing AP Regional MAF Directors** + Performance management and performance evaluation + Coaching and feedback to ensure continuing development of MAF expertise and leadership capabilities + Ensure that appropriate training (e.g. internal seminars), Medical Affairs, functional skills, Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and required SOPs are followed **To oversee the AP Medical Affairs** budget for pan-AP activities for assigned franchises and core MAF activities **To identify opportunities for process improvements** and other transformational activities, oversee such projects and **implement key improvements** **External Relationships** + To maintain and leverage relationships with scientific societies, experts and other authorities across the region + Build internal / external reputation as a credible MA Leader by participating in appropriate professional organisations, meetings and symposia + Act as an AP MAF point of contact (e.g. for coordination of relationships with external alliances/ licensing business partners, and for facilitating interactions with interfacing functions) **Product Safety and Regulatory Requirements** + As per the J&J guidance and SOPs: + Ensure that Regional and Local Medical Affairs Leaders manage **product-related medical safety issues** and provide input to the AP Pharmacovigilance & Medical Compliance and Global Safety Management Teams + Work with Regulatory Affairs & Product Issue Management Teams to coordinate and manage **product-related Issues** and support major quality incidents / recalls across Janssen AP + **Escalate issues and enquiries to senior management** as appropriate **Study Planning and Execution** + **Chair** the AP Protocol Review Committee (PRC) + Ensure that **all AP MAF protocols** (Regional AP and single country) are in alignment with, and **support, the medical strategy** + Ensure that all **AP MAF protocols** (Regional AP and single country) are reviewed and approved or rejected by the PRC + Ensure all Clinical Studies at Regional level follow the appropriate cross-Pharma SOPs **Compliance** + Ensure a strategy for compliance is in place + Review and escalate audit reports and action CAPAs as required **MAF Training** + Ensure that a training strategy is in place and duly implemented + Review the training log for direct reports + Provide guidance to country MAF Heads in alignment with the training strategy **Other Activities as Required** + Provide input to AP business development initiatives when requested + Partner with the late lifecycle management group to provide proactive medical input for lifecycle extension opportunities as appropriate **SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:** + Fluency in English language required + Fluency in additional AP languages an advantage + Able to accommodate substantial travel and workload + The role is Singapore based and is likely to involve extensive AP and International travel **ABOUT YOU** + Academic background with a medical degree and higher medical qualification essential + Track record of successful experience and accomplishments in Medical Affairs + 12+ years industry/business experience with a minimum of 4 years’ experience in line management + Exceptional leadership, people management and development skills + Motivated to develop, guide and reward high performance teams + Excellent scientific knowledge and in-depth knowledge of at least one franchise + In-depth knowledge of study methodology, study data review and analysis + Good knowledge of study execution, benefit risk management and regulatory affairs + Very strong and demonstrable communication and influencing skills with impact at global and regional levels including Senior Leadership + Highly innovative with the ability to drive a complex and changing environment and effectively manage and resolve issues within the TA + Highly customer and marketplace focused with an awareness of the importance of business results + Awareness of and adherence to Johnson & Johnson Credo values
