This Vice President & Actuary position is responsible for leading and managing the actuarial staff in the Commercial Auto pricing unit of Commercial (CI) Actuarial. The role is based in either Whitehouse, NJ, Philadelphia, PA or Simsbury, CT with some flexibility for additional locations. The role reports to the Lead Actuary for the Commercial Insurance Division. There is flexibility to fill this position at a lower job grade for a qualified candidate with less than 10 years of experience.
Duties and Responsibilities related to these product lines:
Work closely with CI management to set priorities for Commercial Auto
Manage the actuarial pricing team including setting the staff’s priorities/workloads and training/developing
Complete annual pricing studies, as well as ad-hoc pricing study requestsOversee annual loss trend analysisWork with CI management to develop/revise rating algorithms, including providing actuarial rate filing support for state regulatorsSupport the rollout of Chubb’s new Auto product targeted at Small and Lower Middle Market customersCollaborate with other Auto actuarial groups across business units to share knowledge and introduce efficiencies where appropriateComplete monthly, quarterly and annual reporting requirements for price monitoring and actual versus expectedAssist in developing the annual financial plan and quarterly evaluation of current accident year resultsSupport the purchase and placement of reinsuranceWork with the modeling team to support underwriting initiativesQualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in a quantitative field such as Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Statistics, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
10+ years of actuarial pricing or reserving experience
ACAS or FCAS certification preferred, or equivalent industry qualifications.
Proficiency in Excel is required. Familiarity with programming languages and tools such as Radar / SQL / R / Python is advantageous but not required. Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn new tools and technologies.
Previous managerial or supervisory experience is strongly preferred but not required. We are open to individuals who have demonstrated leadership potential in other ways, such as leading projects or mentoring colleagues.

The pay range for the role is $170,000 to $250,000. The specific offer will depend on an applicant’s skills and other factors.
