Vice President & Actuary
Complete annual gross and net loss and ALAE reserve reviews through team collaboration and individual effort, effectively communicating and explaining the results to actuarial and divisional business management. Identify and clarify drivers of results, changes in estimates, and alternative assumptions/considerations. Manage and develop team members; create development plans; provide training on technical reserving mechanics and reserving theory; offer constructive feedback. Collaborate effectively in a matrixed environment. Support the Corporate Actuary in communicating reserve review findings to the North America Reserve Committees. Ensure the accurate booking of management results. Assist with internal and external auditing processes, as well as third-party actuarial reviews. Analyze and reconcile data for reserve reviews and/or A vs E, identifying material data errors and communicating them to the appropriate individuals or departments for correction. Collaborate with others to address and resolve known issues. Review and provide commentary on interim A vs E results. Undertake other project-oriented work as required. FCAS or seasoned ACAS designation. A minimum of 10 years of experience with a property and casualty insurer or in a consulting role, with significant reserving experience. Strong analytical and communication skills. Experience in a managerial or supervisory role; ability to work effectively with a team of actuarial analysts. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Proficiency in Excel; familiarity with SQL and R.
