The Equity and Multi-Asset Trading COO Team is responsible for the operational efficiency and strategic initiatives of the trading desk as well as the management of the third-party research functions across Equities, globally. The team builds relationships with external research providers and MSIM investment teams by closely collaborating with internal partners across trading, finance, accounts payable, legal and compliance.
The Vice President of Third-Party Research and Trading Solutions is responsible for the day-to-day management of MSIM’s Global Third-Party Research program. You will be responsible for building and managing relationships with research & execution providers, driving discussions on research pricing, research vote results, consumption across teams, as well as cross asset overview on payment to brokers and/or research providers across all MSIM desks. You will also be responsible for reviewing execution commissions, commission wallet allocation and discussing potential business opportunities, as the representative of MSIM.
What you will own:
Build and manage relationships with third-party research and execution providers.Management of Investment Team research budget, equity research vote, commission attribution, vendor platform setup, compilation of data / results, discussion on service pricing and CCA / Soft Dollar eligibility.Assist and oversight of the onboarding of research and execution providers.Administer incoming research invoices, track / log / report payments, coordinate with CCA / Soft Dollar aggregator and brokers to resolve discrepancies and escalations.Prepare and present material for internal Committees.Assist with compliance, legal, risk as the representative for research and equity trading related queries.Manage the business input process for client requests for both trading and research, including but not limited to: Request for Proposal (“RFP”) requests, Due Diligence Questionnaire (“DDQ”) requests and coordination with operations on client reporting obligations.Manage research related vendor platforms inputs and data pullBroker vote tool platformClient Commission Arrangements (“CCA”)CCA Aggregation coordination and monitoringOngoing review of market best practices Support the trading desk with managing commission rates, ad-hoc reporting requests, and maintaining ongoing review of procedures.Participate in market studies.What you will bring to the role:
Working knowledge in commission management, broker votes, research sales / corporate access, and broker relations.Experience with buy side third-party research consumption or sell side research sales, including an understanding of the evaluation process of brokers.General understanding of the global regulatory landscape with use of client commissions, inducement rules, unbundling commissions, and reporting obligations.Ability to engage at all levels across the organization in a changing regulatory environment, remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful, and efficient, with a high level of professionalism.Adaptable to procedures, processes, and techniques to the completion of assignments and in line with the department's activities and goals.Microsoft Office skills (Excel, a must and PowerPoint)Exceptional attention to detailBachelor’s degree requiredWHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM MORGAN STANLEY:

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $185,000 and $215,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
