We are seeking an exceptional and experienced Vice President to lead our Technical Operations division at Alexion Rare Disease. 

This pivotal role will be expected to provide global strategic leadership, aligning with the company's mission and goals, and partner with senior leaders both within the Rare Disease Unit within AstraZeneca and within the sector to ensure technical decisions enable strategy. 

They will drive flawless product launches, robust manufacturing processes, next generation process improvements, lead technical investments, and step change for COGs specific improvement. 

The VP will be responsible for building out new capabilities in Manufacturing Systems, Cell and Gene Therapy, Combination Devices and ADCs. In addition, they will lead the Capital investment program from the client perspective across Operational units globally.

Typical Accountabilities:

Establishes an overall Manufacturing strategy for own area of responsibility which is aligned to the overall Group strategyContributes significantly to the development of the business area, financial performance and organisation expansion policies in compliance with overall corporate objectives, strategies and plansOversees, monitors, and evaluates own area’s performance, taking action to ensure targets are achievedDirects the preparation of operating budgets and investments in infrastructure, technology, equipment, systems or other assets and resourcesAnalyses and approves operational investments that best meet the organisation's business needsEnsures senior leaders seek out methods for improving productivity, quality and Safety, Health and Environment standards and provides them necessary support to ensure their implementationOversees the implementation of tactical leadership decisions within own areas to ensure the business achieves its objectivesLeads, guides, evaluates, and develops a team of senior managers with operational responsibilities to ensure that the organisation achieves its business objectivesDevelops long term strategy to ensure positive labour relations within area of responsibilityActively manages relevant stakeholders as company representative, overseeing communication both within and external to the organisation and negotiating to resolve key issues on behalf of the companyPerformance manages senior managers and identifies development opportunities for direct reports, together with appropriate succession planning


Education, Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

Master's or PhD degree in a relevant scientific, engineering, or chemistry disciplineSignificance experience of progressive leadership experience in global pharmaceutical or biotech Technical OperationsProven track record of success in driving global operational excellence and compliance with international regulatory requirementsExpertise in cell therapy and gene therapy, as well as knowledge in regulatory affairs CMC, immunology, biologics, and CAR T-cell therapiesStrategic thinker with a deep understanding of international regulatory requirements, cGMP guidelines, and industry standardsExcellent communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate at all levels of the organization on a multinational scaleDemonstrated leadership capabilities, with a focus on fostering diverse, inclusive, and high-performing teams aligned with Alexion Rare Disease.
